They go to the same place, same thing, night after night.

You all must be talking about a different Whataburger than I remember. Maybe that's why they changed the name, because it was a franchise that they didn't sign up for. The local joint had this ridiculously large patties on sloppy bread. The jalepenos for a quarter were the bomb tho.

Sounds like his subconscious guilt cause he eats there routinely. Why else would he give you such a hard time about all this? People who live in glass houses should certainly not throw stones. Oink Oink

Interestingly your surprise on what is in most of this "food" is not unique. I think that is why in most markets now they are required to post the caloric content of all fast food.

I know that has totally changed my way of looking at this type of junk.

saying fast food is crap and will become unhealthy obese is like "Car is too fast, and it is dangerous"
We got choices. we can buy SUV, Safe cars, Fast cars, slow hybrid.

I have choice at a fast food as well.
since, I can't afford to eat at fast food (fast foods are expensive, only benefit for me is it is fast service), I usually drink coffee and eat $1.25-1.50 side salad(s).
That would get my bill down to $2.50-3.50 lunch. That is only fast food I can afford at this time. I sure am not going to spend $8.50-9.50 for a combo meal.
Once in a while, when I do get a coupon, I will eat little expensive and unhealthy fast food stuff.

It really is insane how expensive fast food meals have gotten. When I'm in the mood for fast food one of my favorite places to go is Popeyes on Tuesdays. They have a special "Tuesday deal" where you can get a leg and a thigh for 99 cents ($1.08 with tax), and you can order as many of those as you want. You can often get any 2 pieces of chicken you want, actually. I'll often upgrade to a thigh and a breast.

Granted, $1 for two small pieces of chicken isn't the deal of the century, but it's pretty good by fast food standards. Check your local Popeyes to see if they offer this deal.

It's been about 4 month since I had one. Definitely a good deal.
I just got out of severe RA I suffered for about 16-18mo. I think I gained about 40lbs from lack of movements. Funny thing is my glucose, statin, LDL HDL is all normal (even below when I was in shape).

As soon as I get my weights down, I am going to treat myself to Popeyes. I don't mind being fat, but I hate to buy new clothes. Wearing clothes that barely fit sucks.

You'll get there, Mr. Prena. Just keep at it. If you drop the 40 pounds, you'll have definitely earned a little Popeyes

I can't understand why people bring their kids to the park, with a load of snacks that would kill my appetite for a week. It's insane here, how sugar has to be in everything and in amounts that make one sick.

I am an adult, so I decide what I eat, and same goes for my kids too. I don't give them crap, since I have no will to deal with the results. It's great that genetics are getting the hit on this all, but truth to be told, we are what we eat.

I think those kids have built up a tolerance to sugar. It's like you and coffee, ya know.

I don't have a tolerance for coffee, I just don't tolerate anyone without having a cup in my hand!

On your Hornet I will have a message waiting for you that states, "Please make sure you've had enough coffee before you initiate your inaugural drive". LOL!

Thanks. I am looking forward to the end. I've done it before more than 2 occasion. This time is little harder due to RA with lack of movement.

Biggest motivation is that I don't want to spend $$ on new clothes.

People US consume more food and snack than other countries. I've been to Couple countries in Asia and Europe. Their portions are far smaller than here.

Some kids are big and I envy those kids. My kid is 5, and weighs 31lbs still.. 31lbs is usually achieved at age of 24mo-2.5 yrs old.
We try to feed our kid every opportunity we have.

Not saying much considering you claim to have never tasted the succulent indulgence known as what-a-burger.

That shit pisses me off. I rarely ever drink soda, but if I do, I prefer a diet coke over a regular coke with a meal because regular coke is too sweet and makes me even thirstier. Mkaaaaay.

Yeah but we gotta pay for the smokers and the drinkers too.

Honestly, I believe that what constitutes a "healthy" diet for one person would kill another.

Genetics do not negotiate. I've seen people that ate healthy and ran 50 miles a week drop dead of a brain tumor at 34.

I've seen people that smoke a pack a day and eat a pound of bacon fried in fat live to be 95.

Something like 90% or 95% of healthcare dollars go towards treating 5% of the patient population. Insane.

Haha. So true. My family members die at 59. My dad lived to hit sixty, actually almost 3 months over it!

The thing is, that we can make a difference, but it's the mothers attitude towards food and drinks that matter the most. I don't think genetics can fatten us that much.

Lots of healthcare costs come from hospitals and doctors doing everything possible to avoid malpractice suits. Endless tests to cover even the slightest possible problem. And then there's our need to do everything possible to keep someone alive. My family has been on the hard end of two very long and painful end-of-life scenarios. My little sister was in long term care for 12 years. That bill had to be in the millions. And my Dad went in for fairly routine heart surgery that went horribly wrong and he spent the better part of 10 months in ICU before he died. I know that bill topped $2mil.

You can't always control your healthcare costs. Shit happens and the costs spiral out of control. Wifey's grandmother was healthy right up until she died suddenly at 95. Some folks don't use up much of healthcare kitty and some use a whole lot of it. In almost all cases the folks who use a lot of it would rather not.
