Mine was assembled in March, and I've had it for nearly a month. I've driven 603 miles and have not noticed any noises like this. Driven over enough rough surfaces to have become annoyed with the runflats and replaced with different tires

My sounds like a hollow, barely audible thump/bump coming from the rear - possibly from under the boot somewhere. Barely noticeable, 1 in 5 drives and certain condition, low speed, right sort of undulation in the road, no stereo or rev's, etc.
It is a super stiff car so I attribute it to that. If it's an issue or can be corrected I'm sure BMW will do so in time and I'd be disappointed if a recall or retrofit wasn't available to us early adopters. For now, it doesnt bother me at all. I love this car, I enjoy driving just as much as my 2021 Porsche 911 4S - that's saying something. |

It appears there is a BMW Repair Bulletin for the G42 (originally for the G26) out that may be the root cause and fix for this issue;

All I hear...
Heard this sound from day 1--description as a subtle "loose shock mount" is right on. Didn't help that the GF "didn't hear anything".
Problem is, now that is ALL that I hear every time I get in the damn car. Not that it is loud, but once heard, I can't unhear it--even way in the background. Seems pretty innocuous, but still--shouldn't be there. Only about 900 miles so far, but annoying as hell. Looking forward to seeing if a solution is found. Frustrating. ps--where is the mythical "wedge" referenced in the service bulletin? would love to try and adjust/whatever that. Thanks. |

I know what you mean - I hear it constantly too! The only solution I have found is to take the care out on the highway and drive very fast.

Very odd. It seems BMW are aware of a sound in the M240i but haven't referenced a fix correctly in the Bulletin as yet. |

So strange I’ve come across this post! I’ve been complaining about this in my car and thought it was the lowering springs I’ve installed around 2k miles ago.
Going to check them anyway but interesting to hear it could be this too! |

Softball(s) in a wooden box in the trunk?
[QUOTE=Value;29081878]“Ride comfort on the open road is good too, absorbing large obstacles with a muted thump and covering up small ones almost completely” - Motor1
Not related to "large obstacles". In fact, it's at small amplitude/lower speeds that it's present. Thought about it and, while kind of "loose shock mount" sound, it's more like a softball in a wooden box in the trunk bouncing around. Anyone get any resolution/resources for this? STILL driving me nuts.... |

I contacted my local BMW Service Center in MA this week. They said they have had no service bulletins or have heard other complaints about this issue. This may be because there are just not a lot of 22 240's out there. They asked me to bring it in, which I will. While the noise is a tad annoying, I can live with it but is it causing additional damage to surrounding components is my question!

Thinking of selling this car--not for this reason, but it's damn annoying and doesn't endear the car to me. Maybe if my OCD wasn't so bad I wouldn't be bothered...... |

Did anyone solve this problem? After 2000 km this issue appeared in my M240. In next week I will deliver my car to dealer for inspection. but maybe you found a solution before.

Yeah… I’m only at 2500 miles, but it’s still there. I’ve just learned to ignore it at this point. It’s pretty irritating if you’re fixated on it, but otherwise it’s a fairly minor complaint. I pretty much gave up on trying to fix it after I drove another car that made identical sounds.
I’m keeping an eye out for new service bulletins or advanced information from BMW, but nothing as of right now. |

Solved
My dealer fixed this problem. There was something wrong with boot lid. For sure it was not a suspension. Driving without this annoying noise... priceless |
