And to my point people don't look at the M2 and go. Oh wow that's the cheap BMW M car. the average person cannot afford to spend 70+ thousand dollars on a car. People see M2 a expensive toy… and the fortunate people who don't have kids and don't have to worry about hauling around a bunch of stuff. The M2 is the perfect size.

Although below from press release seem to suggest sunroof is standard.

"There are two roof variants for the new BMW M2: an electrically operated glass slide/tilt moonroof offering a glass surface now larger by nearly 20 percent compared with the outgoing model is standard equipment. A weight-reducing M Carbon roof panel is optional and deletes the moonroof."

I'm wondering if it would be possible to get a sunroof delete even if it's not listed as an option. It's something that many buyers have done on regular series BMWs for years, but it depends on what pull your dealer has.

Judging by the option structure of G42 and G8X, it should be the $700 package adding the 360 camera and the backup assistant...
No surround view for the M2. Parking Assistance is just rear camera and self parking option

Rear camera is a federal mandate on all new cars here in the US, not sure how that is going to be part of an optional package...

Any idea what's 901 "Special Check Movie Cars"?

Is BMW using this vehicle to remake every single Fast & Furious movie..

That would actually make a lot more sense to me.. 🤔

Probably one of the cars they used to shoot launch videos with.

We know it is possible for BMW to provide that option. Moonroof delete is -$800 on 230i.

It's weird that they don't offer the same on the M240i, but as I was saying even if it's not advertised you could make it happen working with a dealer. G87 is a little bit different though, I don't see an incentive for them to do it. They might just push you into getting the CF roof.

Well, then this package is simply standard in the US, here it's optional.
I went trough the specs…nowhere there is a „Parking Asstance Plus" package available and nowhere there is a single mention of a surround view for the M2.

And on all the pics so far, no single picture where you see a front camera…

It will be interesting to see what US market gets charged for ZF8. I don't believe there is another BMW model sold with ZF8 as a standalone option.

The US Press Release says:

Quote:
The new BMW M2 is equipped as standard [...] Front Collision Warning with brake intervention, and Lane Departure Warning.
Those two are part of the Driving Assistant package (5AS) according to the german pricelist, which also includes lane departure warning. So I think that implies 5AS is standard for US cars, but I guess we will have to wait and see.

The manual option will never be an up-charge in the US.. Not because BMW are not greedy bastards but they would get annihilated in the presses and the bad publicity would not be worth the few bucks they make in the process.

All the media outlets, even late night comedians, picked up on when BMW was proposing charging a subscription fee for heated seats and turned it into a dumpster fire. BMW spent weeks on damage control in the US market.

Over the last few month when everyone was crying about inflation, it was expected that major companies such as Apple and Sony was going increase the prices of their products, which they did in every single region except the US. Not because they love North America but they understand fully well that the court of public opinion runs the show here and so they'll just find some other sly way to pad the bill.

For the Canadian market AT is standard and you have to pay for the sunroof. I'll bet it's going to be the same for US.

That sucks (for me), I'm one of those weirdos that was hoping the sunroof was going to be standard over the up-charge carbon fiber top.

The carbon roof is cool and all to look at but I'm not naive enough to believe that it makes a morsel of difference on an already 3,800lbs vehicle.

Typically what is the cost for the ZF auto option. Unsure which US BMW 2022-2023 model, if any, comes with a manual option to compare.

I read in the tech docs that the CF roof reduces the weight by nearly 16 lbs. The sunroof alone is at least ~20 lbs. The key factor here is that weight it on top which is the worst place for center of gravity.

I don't plan on getting the CF roof if it cost too much. I'd rather use that $$$ to lower the car which lowers its entire center of gravity; handles better and looks awesome.

It says $1900 CAD. Can't be too much. Still the best money spent out of all the available options.

Meh, this is obviously still a heavy-ass street vehicle, not some 8 second racecar. I still say your money is better spent on some lightweight wheels, where unsprung weight makes more of an impact on the handling, than a 1,900 (Canadian) piece of carbon fiber on top.
