They've just released a manual 560hp CSL 3.0 S58 so this bollocks about the manual not being able to support the comp horsepower has finally been put to bed...

No one knows the limit because no one is really pushing it. The clutch will slip but who knows the rpm or torque limit? I’ve yet to find any real numbers on that. Also everyone saying well this $750000 car has it really isn’t looking at this correctly. Who buys that car and drives it hard? At all? Once or twice? Probably zero. Or maybe 1 of 50. So honestly we’re not going to know what that transmission can handle. But that doesn’t matter until we know that’s it’s the same exact transmission minus the clutch. |

Other manufacturers have routinely pushed very close to specific numbers with transmissions - including maximum RPM with the venerable 7spd DCT used by Porsche and Ferrari. Chevy has a history of coming very close to rated torque figures for the 6spd Magnum. I wonder if it's the half-shafts or diff? |

I wish the press wouldn't even cover anything that's very limited. If the unobtainable for even most of their high end customers, then don't even cover it. That kind of stuff has rarely excited me.

Agreed. Plus the new 3.0 CSL is not going to be sold in the U.S. so why care?

So this like the E46 M3 GTR except it is not produced to meet racing series road car quotas.
