Even more disappointing as I try and learn from previous errors in judgement, yet here I am going back and forth with a non gambling gambler over his belief that I’m too tight fisted when it comes to tow hooks.

I need this damn car already.
To your favorite charity.
Seriously though, I appreciate the extra cost. When my G87 arrives in Arizona, we will move the existing 240 to New York and do what you’re going through. When life deals you lemons, make lemonade. Rock on.

Just put an order in with express shipping. Just wondering how long it might be in comparison since I might be picking up my car this week.

Sto n Sho mount

Updated 6/28

Per my post #23, I'm going to get the Sto n Sho mount. I really don't like how the off center tow hook mounts look visually. I have this mount on both my cars including my F82, and it works well. There is a spring release pin that let's you pop the plate on and off in seconds, and the drilling is not visible. The price is reasonable, IMO.

They have updated the website with this application (w/o drivers assistance or front lip): https://stonsho.com/front-license-pl...ct-description Installation instructions are attached below.

Does it trigger any of the parking sensors?

That looks like it might reduce* airflow to the oil cooler and intercooler. Less than ideal from an engineering perspective. I honestly rather take the secondary offense ticket for missing a front plate, given my state of residence. I think tow hook is the way to go if you're actually forced to carry a front plate.

Air flows around it. Not much different than the radar unit if you have the DA package. No issues with my F82 over 9 years. Also, you can pop the plate off in a few seconds if you’re tracking.

It still seems like it’ll reduce some airflow, but I’m not a thermodynamics engineer.

I got one as well, shipping looks like it takes awhile longer or you can pay ridiculously high rack shipping rates.

Will return the Tow Hook mount.

Here’s a whole $5 off for the Sto n Sho:

Unless you’re running it on the track or in 120 temps, can’t see it as an issue. Ordered mine today. Now if my car would just hop on a boat!

Has someone got the measurement between the 2 black lines I've drawn on this photo? Where the recess begins.

Many thanks in advance.

Sto n Sho mount

Installed the Sto n Sho license plate mount (don't have my plate yet). Uses attachment bolts already in place. Plate can be installed or removed in seconds by pulling the little ring on the side. It sets so far forward of the radiators I think it will have no effect on cooling; air will flow around it. Much better than a tow hook mount, IMO. Only for cars without the DA package and front lip.

Trying out the StonSho.

Pro's...
-The plate looks better in this location (in my opinion).
-Super easy to remove the plate for track days, car wash, or dodgy neighborhoods.

Con's.
-Much more flimsy than the tow-hook option. The base is secured by two fasteners into plastic making long-term durability somewhat of a concern.

-It does block some of the cooling, but as it's located forward and low, I can't seeing this being of any concern.

-The procedure to level the plate is to grab it and twist it? Would have been nice if a more elegant engineered solution was provided.

-Warning for Canadian shoppers...shipping is NOT free as advertised. They no longer use the Postal Service (due to lost packages). As a result, you're subject to courier duties and fees.

A couple of side by side pics:

I've used the mount on two other cars, just screwing into the plastic, without issue at speeds up to 130 mph. At least this uses factory screws that are much more secure. I backed my license plate up with a thin (0.5 - 1.0mm) sheet of carbon fiber (ordered off Amazon) just to give it more rigidity. As for cooling I think it will have no effect, and of course, you'd remove it for track days anyway.

I emailed Carbonio to see when they'd have a plate mount for the G87. They asked for pictures of the front to see if any of their existing mounts could work for the G87 and below is what they emailed me back. Apparently it attaches behind the bumper on the lower part.

---

Thank you for the photos. As it happens we have confirmed that the following mount fits on your car:

https://carbonio.com/collections/por...se-plate-mount

It is a Porsche listing but the same mount has been successfully mounted to a current M2.

As there are no factory fasteners at that location, I presume Carbonio uses adhesive to secure their mounting bracket?

The installation PDF shows they use adhesive to mount the bracket.
