1. Last a quarter as long as the ones that come on the G8X. 2. Cannot be driven in the rain (I live in the Pacific NW, it rains here far too much for those tires). 3. Cannot be driven or even stored in the cold (tires will literally crack). 4. Are/Were expensive and readily unavailable when I was looking at the car back in 2018. So what happens when you put tires that aren't basically slicks with a treadwear of like 60 on the QV? The performance of the car degrades drastically and it loses a lot of the subjective greatness. I believe MotorTrend or CarandDriver, some magazine did a performance test of a QV with the Corsas and another set of performance tires and the results were pretty drastic. So what do you get when you purchase a QV and switch out the tires so you can actually, you know, drive it on the street? Well, a beautiful exterior, a sub par almost embarrassing interior with tech that belongs in a entry level economy car, awesome looking (if you spec them) carbon buckets that don't provide any heat, a horrid dealer network in case you need maintenance or God forbid anything ever breaks, a reputation (that was earned over the first two years the car was out) of unreliability leading to plummeting residuals, and mid level performance. At the end of the day, it's hard to justify this car when the G80 exists. The G80 will outperform the QV all while you are literally able to drive the thing on the street in not ideal conditions. However, you wont likely see another QV on the road (oddly enough I see them fairly regularly but I live in a place where we have both money and the car culture is strong, both are key when owning a QV).

The precision and accuracy of the steering does not come from the tires, but from a very good suspension scheme and excellent steering calibration (you know the EPS in the Bmw's, right?), as well as the balance of the chassis, you can feel it even on winter tires; the Corsa tires add that little bit extra and give remarkable grip, but the real difference comes from the original 'hardware'. A G80 with Corsa tires still has that fake steering and that feeling of weight and disconnection with the road, because that's just how it's made. But it certainly has the head-up display, heated bucket seats and a lot of technology, it's up to you to set priorities. I wouldn't spend a cent of mine on a Giulia Q and I own a BMW, but I admit that car is dynamically far superior to any BMW. PS Performance comes at a cost however, take the N-spec tires off the Porsches and see how they perform. |

QV is an incredible machine and frankly superior dynamically to any BMW available today. That said, the lack of 6MT is a deal breaker for me right now. The upcoming facelift is the one I would want though, new LED headlights, updated interior bits, etc.

You make a very valid point. The Georgia platform is fantastic but let us keep in mind that Alfa chose to set the alignment on that car to be super responsive, you'll see that in tire life. We could certainly improve the perceived feel of the G8x platform if we were more setting up for track use than street, like the Giulia.

[QUOTE=truekumar;30212433]WHICH one would you choose??
Opinions please? I need to make a decision over the next couple of months. Both seem like truely capable cars in their own rights. I am not yet a massive fan of the G87 blocky leggo type design but it is slowly growing on me and I love the wide rear fenders. I like the Gulia design but hate that the QV is nearly exactly the same design wise at the other standard Gulia cars.[/QUOTE There is no doubt that the Alfa is a beautiful thing as most Alfa's throughout history have been. My problem (as a previous Alfa owner back in 1986) is that the brand can disappear from the marketplace leaving warranty claims as a hit and miss ordeal for current owners (at that time). Love Alfa Romeos, but would I own one over a M car...no way, BMW remains a true global brand with the reassurance of factory backing in the event of a warranty claim. |

Alfa isn't going anywhere anytime soon. They just hit their first profitable fiscal year since their re-entry to the US market. Even if they were to disappear, they're backed by stellantis which includes mopar that handles all warranty work. Meaning, more than likely, dodge techs would be trained to service Alfas.
If you have a dealer by you that you're willing to drive, pull the trigger on a nicely discounted 23 QV. You will not regret it. You can do oil changes at dodge near your house and the 10k, 20k, 30k service maintenance at Alfa. Join the Alfa forum, solid community. P.S get oil changes every 5k not 10k |

I got close on the Alfa, but ultimately ended up with an M4CX in Mint Green. https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2069010

Have any of you guys considered a CT4 Blackwing?
I had/(have it in the family still) the Giulia turbo 4, now I have the m240i, and the steering and seating position by far are the biggest letdowns compared to the Giulia. Like many have said, tech, fit and finish, creature comforts, and livability are better with the bmw. CT4 Blackwing however, has had rave reviews about driving experience, handling/suspension with a negative on the engine vs S58. The tech is GM so relatively up to date unlike the Alfa. Fit and finish below BMW. Dealerships are plenty tho for GM vehicles. Curious if anyone has driven one or can compare? |

TLDR; For me, price was too high for what you get. BW interior is not as nice, iCue is awful, and I prefer coupes to saloons. BW engine sounds better, I'll admit. GM dealers are universally awful in my experience, and when I test drove the BW the SA was an absolute ahole. Suspension was nice. I didn't personally find the shift feel to be all it was cracked up to be. It was no S2000, definitely. |

Thanks for that post. Like the OP I’m in the same boat deciding on either a MY24 QV or MY24 M2. If the QV had a manual as an option then I would most likely take the reliability risk and get the QV. Coming from 20+ years of owning M cars (E46 M3, E39 M5, and currently F80 M3) I’m heavily leaning toward the M2 as I do like the boxy retro-like design and like all my Ms it has a manual. The new M3/M4 is out of consideration, the front grille is terrible and I’d rather keep my F80 than get a new M3. I will say this, the E39 M5 was special.
Anyways, was hoping OP will give us an update. |

One thing I don’t like about the G87 M2 digital dash is that a normal round speedometer and tachometer can’t be displayed. If I’m wrong about that then let me know. Just seems odd.
