I went with Stradale as well! I think it looks much better sitting behind the pillars

thanks for saving me the embarrassment of posting a pic of my filthy car right now. i too much preferred the "behind the pillar" look and also liked how theres some space between the rear of the bumper and the screen so i can stick my hand in there and fish crap out when i am cleaning. maybe not ideal from a "protection" standpoint but it would be a one in 50 million event for something to come down with enough force to cause damage at that angle.

Any recommendations for someone who has a front ACC radar? Or will any of these work?

I see they have two different sizes for the holes. What one is this?

So I feel like the screen in front is better because it prevents leaves and other crap from getting into that space all together. And the pillars seem kinda weird to me if not holding the ACC unit. Also install seems way easier for zun sport… I think that’s what I’m going to go with. Just personal preference I guess

Small mesh size, it matches the size of the side air vents they sell.

install was easy for stradale, but yep, both have puts and takes and its absolutely a matter of opinion. just put something there i think is the right answer

Did you also get the side vent protectors as well?
Did you have to take the bumper off to install them?

Yes, I got the side vents as well. I haven’t tried to install them yet because the instructions do indicate you need to take the bumper off.

I read a post by another forum member who said they were able to fit them without taking the bumper off. I will attempt that this weekend and report back.

That would be great if you could mate!
For me Stradale is the most effective and attractive solution, I just don’t think I want to, or be capable enough to take the bumper off.
Hope you can get them in through the front!

I just want to make sure that I have this straight. I have a 2025 M2 with a manual transmission on the way. Am I correct in understanding that I don't need additional from protection, but it would be advisable to get the Mishimoto skid plate?

My 2024 manual has significantly more protection inside the front grill areas than the automatics seem to have based on images I’ve seen on these threads. I’ll try to take some pics in decent lighting later.

I will say a big rock or a bunch of leaves will still cause issues vs a zunsport grille but it seems way less sketchy than the completely exposed stuff on the automatics

I’ll take better pics later if you wanna see the whole center part (I didn’t have time to pull out of garage this morning) but there’s a metal mesh layer in front of all the heat exchangers, at least the front mount ones. I don’t think the top of the oil cooler has any protection. So far, my current plan is the bottom oil cooler guard I ordered from Zunsport and that’s it. The top of oil cooler is protected by the piano black part of the front bumper, it seems like that part is more of an issue in places that have fall foliage (none of that in Vegas, what are trees even)

That metal mesh covers more than appears in pics too. It appears to be similar to the Zunsport oil cooler guard. If you zoom way in on my first pic you’ll see the H shapes in that mesh.

Any of the options will work. I like that the ZunSport grille is in front of my ACC sensor protecting it. I imagine it's probably expensive if it were to get hit by a rock or debris.

The Zunsport is much stronger than anything BMW has installed on this car. Have you actually felt what the Zunsport feels like. Its a very sturdy stainless steel product.

There a reason BMW added the "protection" to manuals but not the automatics?

Yes I’m well aware of this. I just personally choose not to on mine. They remind me of a look like a 2000s Nissan somebody decked out with a custom stainless grille and that’s just not my style.
