You should get together with that Joker96 fellow and compare notes.
He has no idea what to do either.

Turbo punch is fun on the street, no disagreement there. It’s a big part of the M2’s charm. But at $65k the M2 offers a lot more than the Cayman does. 4 cylinder engines can be good, it’s not about ‘hate’. I’d take a new Z4M manual with the B58 for $75k over any 4 cylinder Cayman. But these are all toy cars at the end of the day, buy what makes you happy. I’m just giving my perspective having driven 20k miles across both gen GT4’s.
I really hate the Supra but acknowledge it’s worthiness.

If I'm having to take the weight penalty, I'd rather have an M2 over a Supra. Plus the BMW buying experience has to be 1000% better than trying to buy a Toyota these days. Toyotas treats buyers like their cars are dipped in molten gold.

Yep - i tried inquiring about the 2025 Supras and allocations n all that and the Toyota Douche Team was no help. I asked how do I get on the list for a 2025 and they basically told me to pound sand and they had no idea when allocations would be opening. Same dealer charging big adm for minivans and 4Runners and Tacos. GFY.
Noticing Supras bring a certain douche crew, too. I thought the flat-billed Subaru crowd was bad..

Yes, I couldn’t agree more with Toyota and ADMs. Went looking for a 4Runner and a Highlander for my wife. I asked the salesman what the price was for two they had on the lot that my wife liked. He told us the sticker price but then added “but thats not what they will sell for”. I asked “do you guys charge over sticker for your vehicles?”. He said “yes” and my wife and I got up and left…unbelievable…for a Toyota.

Granted I don't track my cars, but I have owned over 40 different vehicles, most of which being high-performance, and the M2 in the sport setting doesn't feel much different than most of them when it comes to steering.

My weekend fun car is a 2011 Callaway supercharged Carbon Edition Z06. It has the Z07 ultimate performance package (ZR1 components) and is basically the track version of the C6 Corvette. Driving it & my M2 "spiritedly" on the same curvy country roads, there is obviously more feel, better handling in the Z06 at speed, but the M2 is almost as fun to drive. I actually prefer the thicker wheel in the M2 as well, and I have a custom wheel in my Z06.

The M2 goes where I point it to go, and gives plenty of feedback that I know what the car is doing. I honestly feel all these "numb" comments are born out of youtube reviewers using that term and people just repeating it.
I couldn’t agree more. Have had it 4 days now and the steering is great. Precise, centered, I don’t feel I’m missing any feedback. I don’t describe it as numb. Precise is the answer. Numb compared to hydraulic steering but not many experiencing that for comparison these days. I’m not thinking about the steering I guess is the thing. I like it in Sport as well. Nicely weighted.

I absolutely LOVE this thing and I was expecting “rubbery” manual and “numb steering” from all the posts on here. Everything about it is better than the F80s I had for 8 years (closest comparison). This manual is somehow easier to drive than the F80, car is better sounding (not an angry snowblower like the F80), better manual - clutch and the shift feel, and steering is great. Planted, handles better. This is a keeper. What a job BMW did.

If you want a muscle car, I don’t think the 6MT M2 is the one.

I had F80s for 8 years and this steering feels no different. They seem to have gotten the “on center” steering fixed - the F8X was always wandering on center, this doesn’t which is fabulous. I know the rear subframe of the F82 and F80 was bolted directly to the chassis to give some “butt vibration” sense to the driver. I don’t think the G8X does that which maybe is the difference in the feel between the two? The suspension in the G87 is so much better than the bouncy F80/82…but honestly any car with modern electric steering by definition is going to be numb…my opinion has changed significantly now that I’ve driven the G87 for more than a test drive. Granted only 4 days but this is something I’m going to look forward to hopping in and going to work and hopping in to come home.

I hope you find that car that does the same for you. CT-5 Blackwing? That could be the answer.

Buy a Camaro ZL1 1LE or SS 1LE. Then your ass and hands will be numb all the time from the feedback that car gives.

Yeah but toy cars with loud mufflers and airplane wings are a teenage status symbol flatbilled hat notwithstanding.

Would you pay 100k for a 4 cylinder AMG Emira?
The four cylinder hate is because it sounds like a fart machine. It's a shame because it's an amazing car otherwise. Can't win 'em all.

Otherwise, you risk having buyer's remorse which is the absolute worst.
And here I am on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. The last 6 cars I bought I never even drove. First time ever operating that type of vehicle was after it had been paid for.

2020 WRX, 2017 330i, 2022 Ford Bronco Sport, 2022 M240i, 2023 M2, and 2014 Chevy Cruz all bought without a test drive. All were bought new except the 330i and the Cruz. The Cruz was my sisters since new and is now my beater, so I have sat in that one before, but that's it.
