Internet car forum with people telling you what to drive or buy, who have zero reason to do so, but love to mouth off cause they know sooooo much and are experts, after watching non-expert on You-shite-tube 'influencer' spout opinion as fact!

Hi All, for sure good chargers which have 2 separate controllers for Voltage and for Amperes.
This a right habit in relation to Batteries and their charging in view of best performance and life of battery.
In case somebody know such a model which may deliver more than 20A please welcome)))

I wasn’t gonna say anything til this man child decided that things made in other countries are worse than “American” products (Optimate is not made here, seriously 10 seconds of research told me that lmao). Dude is driving a German car made in Mexico typing on a phone or laptop manufactured in Asia and says CTEK is crap because it’s manufactured in China. This guy is the same level of intelligence that thinks tariffs are paid by the other countries.

Listen I love me some American products. I might be Asian but I grew up more country than most Americans (huge dairy farm, learned to drive a manual international tractor at 8 years old). But making blanket statements about where something is manufactured is so ignorant. All your iPhones are made in China and nobody complains about their extremely high quality.

TLDR, random Asian forum guy turns out to be more ‘Merican than fzr100098, more news at 10.

So….was there an update on OP’s battery issue? LOL

Taking to dealership this week. It has stayed plugged into the CTEK and is maintaining a charge, but the "Replace Battery" light is still on. I was told by the dealership that they will have to clear the warning, and likely replace the battery. I will update by the end of this week when it is done. When I drive to the dealership it will be the first time since I got it home at the end of last month/beginning of this month that it has been driven anywhere given the snow in the mid atlantic.

Ugh, sorry you have to go through this but I hope it is a quick fix…battery out, battery in and then enjoy! Good luck man!!

RMB,
C-TEK should be set to snowflake mode for AGM.

No matter, normal mode is also ok. If battery capacity is low, as the plates are already sulphated, nothing will help. In this case battery need to be tested first.
RMB: if you want to check your battery by yourself, get at least multimeter, and check voltage connecting red to plus, and black to minus. Before checking, just switch on head lights for 1 min, then switch off, and then check voltage on the battery. And reply here how much you measured?
For a deeper testing you need a load tester.
Probably the error in the system is appeared due to another reason and your battery is ok. Dealer will just erase it.

FWIW if you DO need to replace battery we can officially say the CTEK did the EXACT same thing as an Optimate would. My GF’s 2022 Accord battery was not able to be saved when it got stuck on that step with my Optimate, but it wasn’t an AGM. There was no saving it - I had set it for conditioning after following all the steps before that, and it still wouldn’t hold a charge. 2 years daily driving 250mi per week with Vegas Summer heat is brutal on batteries for sure.

Update- I had a break in the weather and the roads were dry. I took the car to the closest dealership and they said the battery was dead. They replaced the battery and eliminated the warning message. So far so good and fingers crossed this issue will be a thing in the past. Thank you for your help/advice everyone.

Your scenario matches one I read a while back on another thread here, this likely won’t happen again unless you left a door/trunk/hood open for a whole weekend by mistake. That said, I drive very little so this whole scenario is a great reminder to at least drive my car around the block every week or so.

So I was right as per the reason of fault)) Now watch out condition)) buy multimeter, and control voltage. Charge regularly. Is this MHEV car with a lithium battery at the engine's bay?

Not sure it's been mentioned yet but CTEK makes a really good battery charger.

Uh oh, you’re inviting pushback from Beavis, the resident knothead on battery chargers and related products.

Definitely good news you getting sorted out. Definitely use your battery tender (function not brand) device when you aren't driving much, it will help the overall longevity of your battery. I keep both the M2 and my Trophy plugged in when not used much. Actually got 8 years out of my motorcycle battery so I am a believer in battery maintainers.

I am hopeful to get my M2 out tomorrow, been in the garage for 2 weeks; but it will be a one day'er here in KC.

Is it normal for CTEK chargers to get very warm/hot during charging?
