Do you honestly believe that people who picked up LF-A's didn't think they are overpriced? Just because they have the capability to shell out the cash for one doesn't mean they think the price is justified. Hell, I could elect to spend $2000 on a fleshlight if I really wanted to - doesn't mean I don't think it's overpriced.

Well I'm just going off of the thread title "best sounding exhaust period". When you throw in the price/value factor that's a different story. I'm not even considering an engine's overall characteristics when I think about its exhaust notes.

I'd never call any of those logically priced either. I'm not even saying people shouldn't buy the car (hell if I had money out the ass there would be an LF-A in my stable). I'm just saying $375,000 is an insane amount of cash for a brand that's lacking in supercar cache. You've got the 458, LP570-4, and MP4-12C; all at LEAST $100,000 less. That's massive, and nearly impossible to dismiss.

No way. That V12 has some character to it. I'm sure if you fitted it with a more free-flowing exhaust it would start to resemble that mechanical bee noise, but tons of engines lose their characteristic tones when they're less muffled.
these 458, LP570-4, and MP4-12C just don't seem that special. maybe to us poor people, but to a rich guy, those are entry level supercar at best.

i think many people justify the cost of the LFA based on 0-60 performance, but the thing is you can also argue that the z06 is fast/faster than an f430 at 1/3 the price...guess what I will take if i can afford both, f430.

Well said. I love the new Ferrari FF even if it is very expensive for the same reason - motoring perfection. It is just a masterpiece.

Regarding LFA, aside from exclusivity, only 500 means higher cost to produce especially considering it is completely bespoke. Last time Toyota/Yamaha produced 363 copies of a bespoke racing car/supercar in 1968 (2000 GT), they go for over $200,000 today. Plus all the R&D that goes in is unlike any of those other cars.

Like Chris Harris said in the Evo UK 'car of the year'. 'There has been nothing that has felt this special since the Macca F1'.

Bro, what. They're some of the fastest cars out there, and their interiors are just as good as the LF-A's (design-wise, even better imo, though I love the LF-A's sliding tach/speedo). The corvette argument doesn't make sense considering these cars have great interiors as well. They might be "entry level" supercars, but their performance figures are some of the best for their brand.

It's a moot argument because like you said, the people that have cash to throw around will buy what they want.

Can you give me another example of what you're talking about (a video of some other car that sounds like what you're talking about)? Because the mechanical bee noise I think of is straight gears and tranny whine from a race car. That's why all the idiots complain about GT5 cars sounding like vacuums when you modify them. It's the tranny you're throwing into the car that does it. It drowns out the engine.

You are entitled to your opinion, but it absolutely does not represent how Lexus went the extra mile to pay attention to detail was paid in the LFA well above the usual supercars. Why don't you stop arguing since I would hate to have this great thread locked. That is what those videos and reviews above prove by people who actually compared side by side.

Nearly everyone who has sat inside and driven all these cars say the samething (CarAndDriver, Adam Carolla, Evo magazine, AutoBild, TopGear Magazine etc.) that LFA has everything built to a much higher standard than these cars you mentioned such as, carbon fiber everything, everything standard down to 14 speakers stereo system and more attention to small details. (and all equipment is completely standard and no options, which is completely opposite to those other cars).

330CIZHP is exactly right. you can just tell the interior fitment of the LFA is on another level compare to the 458 or lambo, even by picture alone. there is no comparison IMO.

btw that autoexpress review is awesome. I love the part where he demonstrated the surround sound of the exaust. Wow.
