Scary thing is I just realized I do my physics research with a huge experiment based in tokai, Ibaraki. Lab is called J-Parc. Located in the dead center of the east coast, about 1/2 mile from shore

Was scheduled for a teleconference @ 6:30, I hope they're all OK, some of the brightest people in the world work there

They are worried about the tsunami being higher than the elevation of some pacific islands

Air Raid/Tsunami/Civil Defense sirens going off again. I heard somewhere 2 meters is expected in Hawaii. That's enough to JUST clear the safety wall between my backyard and the ocean... (Back yard/Dock is about 9-10 feet above sea level)

I didn't feel it. I'm in Honolulu (230 miles away from the epicenter, and only a 3.2) Hawaii gets a LOT of 2-3 on richter scale quakes that no one really cares about. We had one that I felt last week and everyone just went on their business. A 3.2 is nothing NOTHING like a 8.9, or even a 4.0/5.0.

Edit: ONly 10 minutes until Taiwan gets hit...

My friend at Manoa said they're all chilling so far, and not too worried. If that's the case, then it definitely shouldn't be anything bad in CA.
