Because it is cheaper than to continue building a RWD Z4 sDrive30i with NA I6. And anyway nobody is interested in it, it is slower than 335i, but it is not sportier/more nimble or better handling.

I'm in the market for one of these cars and the 370Z doesn't even make the long list for me. I want something that's light and tossable that doesn't have to travel at extra-legal speeds to get some tire scrubbing or some rear end play going. If you have more fun racing at stoplights or 1-upping some people on the road, go for the Z. If you're buying the car because you like to drive, go for the GT86 twins.

Both cars are crappy options for a daily lol, getting it automatic doesn't make it any more practical, but less fun if anything. It's like getting the worst of both.

IMO the E36 is a great chassis and just enough power to have fun with (which is still 40hp more than the GT86). Although if we had the Euro S50B32, I would keep that car forever. The 370 weighs as much as an E36 and has the power of an E46 (or similar power/weight as the Euro S50B32 M3). Or you could say, it has the same power, but 100lbs heavier than a Z4M Coupe. That's enough power to sustain decent drifts and have a lot of fun with, and no you don't have to go 'extra-legal speeds' to have fun and do it. Actaully, you can be going slower and use the power to drive the car sideways. The FRS/MX-5/RX8/MRS are all great handling, light, tossable cars that you can't have tail-out fun with, but IMO they don't have enough power stock to sustain long drifts and require more entry speed to do so, or they dont last as long. There's nothing wrong with those characteristics if thats what you're looking for, they are still fantastic cars. |

I just think the Z comes off as a bruiser when we're speaking on relative terms. Its more taughtly-sprung suspension and damping, heavier curb weight, and brutish V6 create a different experience. For outright sustained oversteer it's probably the better choice, but I'd still rather have a car that places emphasis on languid control and transfer of momentum with on-tap oversteer at low speeds. It could definitely use more torque to keep the rear more adjustable, but I still think it has more key ingredients to make a better DD "fun" car. Full disclosure: I've never warmed up to the latest Z's styling, and the VQ engines have never sat well with me. [Edit] full disclosure part 2: I haven't driven a 370Z (but had ample time in the Toyobarus), but I had the opportunity to borrow a family member's facelifted 350Z for the better part of 150mi, so my 370 impressions are entirely second hand based on articles and comparisons.

The 86 is an amazing car with the Cg so low and an impressively (uncharacteristic?)ly smooth subaru boxer engine. It's hard to beat the feel and performance of that low of a Cg. The 370 does have a rougher ride (Nismo is pretty bad), and if I bought one, I would but a set of KW V3s on there right away to improve the ride. For my disclosure, i'm a bit biased towards torque for my avenue of drifting fun. I almost went with a C63 over my E90M. I'd also love to see an LS swap in a FRS, contemplated a LS swap in my E36, and would probably never go back to a 4cyl bike after being spoiled with the torque of a Ducati's V-twin. There's nothing wrong with differing opinions/desires |

And hey, oversteer4lyfe. Seriously, I'm with you on that one. Give me tail out action over outright grip any day of the week. I saw a video of a BRZ with an LS2 swap and nearly fainted... and it wasn't even at pace. Just the thought... If you're looking for a C63 in Iridium Silver, I have one in the family owned by my mother. She told me she's looking to get out of it and already has her name on the list for a CLA45. I can tell you that the thing hasn't seen more than 3k on the tach for more than 99% of its life, and that 1% would be when I've had the chance to borrow it a couple years back. I'm considering buying her car off of her, but I still want something lightweight with a locking diff (no PP on her's).

Notice:2014 370z price dropped 3k.... BRZ/FRS is a great car, dont get me wrong but does it worth its price tag?? i would say No 370z competes with much higher priced sports cars.. and simply not in same league as FRS/BRZ.. and your sig clearly showing you own FRS |
