In other news my wife had a Cologuard test more than a month ago and the results came back positive, so a colonoscopy was scheduled, which she had done yesterday. They found 4 polyps, ulcerative colitis, and diverticulosis. Her doctor said the polyps looked benign but routine biopsies will be done to tell for sure, and he will treat the UC and diverticulosis. So the Cologuard did it's job.

It's been exciting to say the least at our house in recent days. Lol

There are also some medications that can exacerbate the problem in addition to other factors metabolically (high triglycerides, high cholesterol, blood sugar issues, etc..), or physical issues like bile duct obstructions, heart disease, etc.. It's a complicated issue but needs to be taken seriously as it is potentially fatal even though the person feels relatively fine, until they do not.

A good liver workup and biopsy will confirm the diagnosis and a specialist will make the determination as to cause, prognosis, and optimal treatment that will perhaps require significant lifestyle changes (losing weight, exercising vigorously and in a developmentally appropriate manner, greatly limiting or eliminating alcohol, taking medications, etc..)

The good news is for mild to even somewhat moderate (Batts-Ludwig scale, or Metavir Scale) liver fibrosis - it is very treatable and can be partly to largely reversed with proper treatment and aggressive lifestyle factor changes that your health care provider(s) will inform you of.

Hopefully, things work out well and the condition is treatable and reversible for you.
I am not overweight, don't drink in excess, exercise with weights 3 times a week, walk 3 miles most every night and eat pretty good; lots of vegetables, lean meat, nuts and fruits. I do eat out occasionally, but not excessively.

Not sure what's going on but hopefully they'll (specialists) get to the bottom of this.

I did the Cologuard trip early last year and it came back positive. So, chugged
the colon blow and did the dreaded colonoscopy. Doc removed 2 benign polyps
and evacuated 2 diverticuli (sp?). Good outcome, although I went through a
couple of months of apprehension before the procedure could be performed.

Cologuard is known to give false positives. Cantalope is at or near the top of
the list in causing false positives. At the time, I was eating cantalope every
morning, so…

Other good news is that the doc said at my age I will not have to any more
colonoscopies.

We were concerned but thought the results might be a false positive. My wife (and me) were upset about the Cologuard test results and thought her doctor was putting her through this worry and stress for nothing. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise. A colonoscopy can save lives. And thanks to her doctor for suggesting Cologuard.

I'm going to the DMV today for my license renewal. Eye test and new photo. I picked today for my appointment because 7 is a lucky number. We're having a Santa Ana wind event today and tomorrow with heavy gusts so not so lucky to be out and about.

I just missed the DMV policy change last year, so had to take the written test.
Passed it. The old policy required those over 70 take the wriiten test. Turns
out it was just policy, not the law.

Five years prior, I made an appointment with the DMV in another town because
they had much better parking. That turned out to be a mistake when a window
agent instructed me to “follow the pink line.” I returned to her window after I
couldn’t find a pink line. She told me to look around the corner and tell her if
the blue line was empty. I stepped back and looked. Yep, empty. The agent then said, “ That’s the pink line.” I’m thinking, WTF?!

The only reason I kept my cool was because I wanted to complete the ordeal
and go home with my new license. I’m sure any DMV agent could slow your
process to a crawl, or worse.

Our local DMV did okay last June, but the powers that be combined 2 dissimilar
lines that definitely slowed the process and added to the confusion. I always
dread dealing with the DMV in person. *

Ohio now has a 8 year renewal now for D/L up to age 65, after that every 4 years. Used to be every 4 years. Renewal date is your birthday. My wife and myself renew on the same year, her in December, me in October and you can renew 60 days prior.

We both went on my birthday to do renewal since she was within the 60 day prior poilcy. She renewed first and because she was only turning 65, she qualified for the 8 year renewal.
When it was my turned, told the clerk I wanted the 8 year also, she said sorry you're to old, 65 Y/O was the limit. 😂

Ohio renewal, the eye test is required, no written test though.
Sometimes I disagree with the no written test at renewal, some folks out there need to be reminded of the requirements of driving.

Was a piece of cake for me; in and out in 15 minutes.

In California:
Quote:
If you are 70 years or older when your driver’s license expires, you are required to renew your driver’s license in person and pass a vision test unless otherwise instructed by DMV. Knowledge tests and training are no longer required for most senior drivers. If you have no accidents or citations, you may skip the test.
https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/senior-drivers/

I turn 70 this month.
