Anyway, my griping is over, and hope to hear from my own dealer soon! LOL!
Every dealer did get one...their HEA car.

I'd be happy to take your spot, if it's for MSRP and can be delivered at the Performance Center. Which is what I'm waiting for, hopefully by the end of the year.

But I agree that it's far more likely someone else on your dealer's list moves up to get it. Which is what I hope happens to me!

Related question, since you're a guy who knows things . . .

When my allocation comes through, if for some reason I wanted to wait a little longer, would a dealer be willing to offer my allocation to the next guy on line and let me drop back a spot and take the next allocation?

That would ultimately be up to the dealership but I am currently doing that with a client who has an M3 on order. He passed up the last allocation but I'm holding his place in line.

Was signing some paperwork at my dealer today. Got my production number!

They happened to have the ZB color sample, so I took some pics. Compared to Yas Marina, it looks very dull/washed out. Figured it would be useful for some in here. ZB is at the top, Yas Marina bottom right.

I take screenshots of the locate screen so I can keep track of how many cars are in each status. When I posted on Friday there were a total of 723 M2s. I checked again on Sunday and noticed total cars were 766. That means 43 more allocations dropped between Friday when I posted and Sunday when I checked again. It probably happened on Friday evening but who knows.

Edit, FYI, at least ONE CA is supposed to be M certified. At least at our store.
This is exactly what my general manager says. He believes it is not worth the extra expense for the "M Certified" status because we are still a small dealership and probably wont sell too many M cars anyway. We probably lose 4 or 5 clients a year to Portland when we can't get an M car and that really isn't too many.

No word from my dealer where I am #2, I'm betting they didn't get any allocations again. Is there a set time or schedule allocations are sent out or are new drops seemingly at random from our perspective?

At least with a production week you have some relative clarity on how long the wait will be.

Those of us at dealers that have received zero allocations as of yet are in the waiting abyss, and it's getting really dark down here.

There are many on here more knowledgeable than I am, but in general allocations come out towards the end of each month. So late April would be the next round.

According to my Dealer in NoCal, they'll get 2 allocations in May or some sort of that time, and they estimate 2 more coming this summer, a medium size dealership. So I guess we should see more and more allocation coming.

Allocations aren't random. May production allocations dropped Friday. When they drop has been inconsistent at best since early 2022 or so. It used to be the case that allocations dropped roughly 6 weeks prior to the start of the production month. So a May production allocation should drop 6 weeks prior to the first production week in May.

BMW also used what they call Webshop to visually show allocations by series (e.g. 7 series) and model within the series and a given template. You'd make your quick adjustments for color, wheels, etc. And then submit your order and they'd populate in the DAR where you could make more precise changes.

Now, the allocations go straight to the DAR where you can make changes in the BMW ordering system.

I need to go by my dealer and see if they got any allocations after their HEA car.

Sounds like most that are #4-5 and up on a list at smaller stores (assuming no one backs out), will go into MY24 before a car is allocated.

Sales volume is really the key to allocations given to dealerships (yes, larger dealerships usually have higher sales but not all large dealerships do high sales....now isnt that confusing).

Sorry if this is out there somewhere and I haven’t seen it, but for those of you on here with insight on how allocations usually work, now that dealers are going to be getting their initial HEA cars, is SLP going to just be focusing on customer orders from here on out until they get through the order bank? Or will we continue to see non customer-specced cars occasionally come into dealerships that aren’t already spoken for?

Asking for a “friend” who’s #15 on a list at a dealer that hasn’t gotten any allocations yet…

that's not how production works. If you're #15 on a list and that dealer hasn't got any allocations (after 2 rounds of production allocations), you're going to be waiting quite some time. Suggest looking to get on another dealer list.

As I understand it, if the dealer gets an allocation and has no customer orders in waiting, they can order a dealer-spec car and sell it off the lot. But with so many customer orders waiting in line for the M2, that is not going to happen for a very long time.

Thanks for the replies. I’m aware that at #15 on the list, I’m possibly (probably) looking at a few years wait time. I just didn’t know if dealers get non-customer allocations within the mix of customer allocations.

I’m in N. Florida. I don’t know where my dealer sits in the pecking order as far as being high volume or not. They’ve always got M3s and M4s on the lot, at least since the start of this year, so apparently it’s not like they don’t get allocations for M cars. Unfortunately their wait list is full of customers from all over the state, because they sell their cars at MSRP, vs South Florida where apparently the ADMs are ridiculous.

I don’t need the car tomorrow and don’t want to pay an ADM. I was just wondering how the allocation system works. Who knows, maybe I’ll get lucky and land on the year they do the LCI. Or at least other paint options.

Thank you for the information.

If you are at Tom Bush they are currently waiting on their second allocation. Their first one came with a May build date.
