I'm not either. But you're a bit of a skipping record.

Before the C8 came out, I was arguing with a guy and I said no way GM could make a mid engine Corvette for $60K or even $75K starting. I think the guy probably was a GM insider and he told me that sure GM could because there's nothing exotic about the C8 except that this time the engine is in the middle. Inherently, the C8 shouldnt' cost more to manufacture than the C7.

I’m wondering with the OTA updates if little tweaks will be sent to cars overnight as they continue to compile more real driving data. Maybe that’s a pipe dream.

Idk... the problems people are talking about with the C8 (at least the problems I care about) are ones that don't make the car more expensive. The Camaros (cheaper) and dynamically wonderful and have great limit behavior.

I'm hoping they just pushed the car out earlier than they should have, and a couple years from now this will all be settled. As I recall, the C7 was a bit of a dynamic mess at launch, as well.

Hopefully the way it drives isn't representative of a value shift since C7/6th gen Camaro.

I'm sure there will be considering the constant updating of the C7 suspension tuning. Then again, GM was charging money for those tweaks, don't know if they would release them for free.

OTAs reduce overall cost, but yes, I could see where during the warranty period they are included and then you can pay for updates after.

They charged me $350 to update my shock calibrations 2 weeks after I bought my car.

I wonder what they will actually be able to change. Not everything is software so there will be limitations.

And they should learn about what happened to the 737 MAX.

I am going to wait after the first year of production and if there are no glaring issues with the C8 I will make the transition from my 2018 M5 (F90) to the C8. I have owned more Corvettes over the past 53 years of my life. Car ownership is very subjective. Case in point I thought a 2018 Porsche 911 S/GTS was in cards when I thinking of transitioning from my 2015 M3 (F80) in 2018. Several test drives in the 911 S / GTS and I left feeling it was missing something and I could not justify the price even with a 7% discount. Don't get me wrong it drove beautifully. Now when I test drove the F90 M5 I knew it was the car for at the time. We will see how I feel once I get to test drive a C8 which will be more then likely sometime in 2020 (hopefully).

I miss my 2012 C6 Z06/Z07. I should have never sold it for the C7. The C7 had transmission issue and I transitioned to the M3 in July of 2014. I never could get use to the engine sound of the F80 and onto the F90 M5.

Nice selection. I really enjoy my C7 but am certainly interested in what the C8 brings.

Awaiting track times from tracks like Laguna, VIR, Nurburgring.... driven by pros and I’m confident this sports car is going to demolish a lot of some much more lofty sports cars just as Corvette has in the past but probably more so now with this leap forward.
A couple early questionable reviews complaining about understeer and the such but once the cars hit the tracks in earnest I think a lot of these ‘tests’ with preproduction cars driven by who knows who, will go by the wayside.

Jason Cammisa gave some Q&A directly to forum members. Worth a read if you’re interested in the C8.

And the “Jason Cammisa’s a f**king hack” comments from fanboiz in 3...2...1...

Not sure why people are all worked up over the understeer things. There are other things though are worth talking about but don't seem to get the proper attentions. The FPC V8 will go along way fixing some of the short comings.

Seems like a fair assessment. Still would take a C8 over C7 any day of the week. Like how he mentions the GT4 was an understeering mess when it arrived in the US and went on to be a classic with some tweaks.

NA FPC Z06 will be a banger, instant classic if true. Will be last of a dying breed.

There are some guys that look at what a sports cars does on the track, hard cold facts and some guys like to listen to guys personal opinions on a new car, feelings and they vary from person to person and most often show bias. Just looking at these breaking performance numbers this first run the C8 shows that it’s going to run with big dogs. It’s going to hurt some feelings of those with other sports cars and even some with a Corvette prior generation, even right here on this site. That’s the way it always will be.
