Since the whole front end (including the drivetrain) is from the M4, only the skin is different, the difference would be due to the condition of the tyres
Isn't the wheelbase shorter on an M2? That would likely make the weight distribution less favorable than an M4.

I dig the front bumper and it looks better than I expected. They have black camo on the grilles, once that comes off we'll see the gloss black double slats and an M2 logo.

If that's the finished image, then how'd they get those lower intakes to pop so much more in these pics? Or is it just the angle?

It's possible there's still a little bit more to give. Project_F87 can clear this up.

It's the camo throwing you off. Amazing how well it works, isn't it.

The camo along with structural padding underneath do a pretty good job at covering the delicate contouring as well as the aggressive style features. That image you attached Game really shows off how far out those intakes stick out

Well aerodynamics aren't that simple. They are using those parts to direct airflow to improve aero, directing air to brake and heat exchanger ducts, etc. And I completely disagree that things like active cruise are useless on an ///M car. But if you don't want them, don't order them. Practicality and daily useability are important for cars that well spend 99% of the time on public roads, and BMW knows that. You could argue that a hardcore track version shouldn't have them if real performance gains could be had, but you could also just not order them. Any track variant is going to be a tiny fraction of total cars produced, so that's obviously not the focus. This is not a M3 GTS or Porsche RS model equivalent by any means, and it wouldn't really matter if it was. Because OPTIONS.

No it would make the M2 handle better than the M4. The closer the heavy parts of a vehicle are to the center of gravity, the easier it is to turn. The M2 would naturally turn in better than the M4 since less steering angle is required to make the same turn

I'm feeling like the wrap is improving the llooks of the car. It shows off the profile and wide hips while hiding all the funky details like the rear corner panel light/body work and front lower bumper. But it gives me hope that it will look good in the flesh.

Again BMW can't stop themselves from screwing up the front grill - too square and prominent to my taste. I really feel lucky with my G42, FG is much better shaped !

IDrive 8 would also be a no go, but apart from that, the rest of the car looks pretty good !

I cannot find the weight distribution for the M240i RWD, it's not published anywhere yet. That said, if you compare the weight distribution of the M4 RWD to the M240i xDrive they are identical. What does impact weight distribution is if the car is a Competition model or has xDrive; they not only increase the weight of the car, but also unfavorably tilt the weight distribution to the front axle. This seems to indicate that the G87 will have better weight distribution since it's RWD. I would expect it to fall in around where the M4 RWD is at.

M3 RWD
Curb Weight: 3,840 lbs
Weight Distribution w/AT: 52.9 / 47.1

M3 Competition RWD
Curb Weight: 3,890 lbs
Weight Distribution w/AT: 53.1 / 46.9

M3 Competition xDrive
Curb Weight: 3,990 lbs
Weight Distribution w/AT: 53.1 / 46.9

M4 RWD
Curb Weight: 3,830 lbs
Weight Distribution w/AT: 52.7 / 47.3

M4 Competition RWD
Curb Weight: 3,880 lbs
Weight Distribution w/AT: 53.1 / 46.9

M4 Competition xDrive
Curb Weight: 3,979 lbs
Weight Distribution w/AT: 53.6 / 46.4

M240i xDrive
Curb Weight: 3,871 lbs
Weight Distribution w/AT: 53.1 / 46.9

Saw these two pictures on line.
I have no idea whether they are renders or real photos given the lack of context.

But I guess they might be pretty close to the real car (if they are not).
