Yep. Although I've been in a few fender benders and the impact sensors seem VERY aggressive in cutting off the motor. So that latter condition shouldn't have happened. Key would "shouldn't."

Damn I dodged a few bullets with deers on my m2 cs when I lived in Colorado. Definitely a risk with the mountain driving but so much fun. I think I have it on gropro somewhere. Sorry this happened, hope they total it and you can get another one asap- and at least you made it out alright

Glad you’re ok! Back in 1999 I had two deer nearly run into the side of my car. One slid and turned and just missed the mirror. Another jumped over the front of the hood and luckily neither hit the car. My GF at the time (now wife) nearly peed herself as it was the passenger side of the car 😆

Indeed, which is why other than being bummed, I'm pretty chill about it. Could have been way worse.

Sorry this happened.
I appreciate your input on these boards, so hopefully you’re back in an M2 soon.

I hit a deer at 70mph back in 1997 in an Opel Corsa POS. Wasn’t pretty.

Sorry to see you having to deal with this, Justin. Great that you’re ok and the rest will likely take care of itself (with a bit of work on your part). Good luck with the claim process. Hopefully you’ll be back on the road soon.

There I was hoping to see your car at Kies show today. Maybe this explains why not. Best of luck with repairs.

Btw, I counted 6 or 7 G87s at the show today, all ZB. Presumably mostly HEAs, or people really favor ZBs, which doesn’t see to be from polling here. Was really hoping to see TR in person.

This doesn’t look totaled, especially if the air bags didn’t deploy.

Good luck! Health is wealth!

Hi Justin,

This sucks and I'm very sympathetic since we drive on roads that look similar even if a few thousand miles apart. At least you managed to find a spot that wasn't also populated by a large tree or boulder. So little room for contingencies on these roads.

Fingers crossed that your shop has better things to say than the wrecker.

Best,

Nick

This is actually the funny part about this. Definitely unwanted attention.

I saw this thread yesterday and since then I have been curious.... I know ZB wasn't your first choice of color, but after having it for this short amount of time would you spec it if you get an allocation? I'm curious if it has grown on you.

Given current choices, yes.

Oh man, as soon as I saw that side pinstripe on the front page of bimmerpost I had a bad feeling it was your car. Super unfortunate but glad you're alright!

If the underside frame isn't bent or badly damaged, it should be pretty easy to get this thing back on the road! This would make for some absolutely sick youtube content if you decided to fix it yourself

Second, just an enjoyable drive today when 3 deer decided to appear in front of me. One actually ran itself into the side of the car. Brake and try to avoid rest and I ended up in the woods a bit.

Car isn't happy. Lots of alarms and damage messages. High centered.

I suspect they will total it when all said and done.

Air bags didn't go off though so who knows. I know the lower rad in the front is smashed to shit.

I'll post more damage photos when she's out.

If this is the end of my journey with this car, I will be back again in the future when I can secure an allocation.

It's hard to see but it was high centered and the exhaust is smashed to shit right behind the brace, and even the brace is chewed up a bit. A piece of underneath panel was ripped off too. [...]
Had the same happen to me on a highway in the northeast. Fortunately I was in a $10,000 Honda Civic.

Deer ram right into my right front fender.
Sorry OP, that sucks.

Good luck getting everything back together again.

I guess it’s a good sign for the desirability of the G87 that even bad news makes it to the front page?

That is shitty luck. Sorry man.

Happy you're ok, fingers crossed for a write-off.
It's likely a loss based on the supply issues for replacement parts and the seat time they'll have to pay for in a rental.
