Enjoy picking up your car! Still waiting for the status to update here (should have been offloaded at NY, but still says in transit; hope it's not going back to Mexico!)

She's home!

Here's a pic at the dealer. Saying goodbye to the old 2017 and welcoming the 2024. The 2017 was just hitting 25k miles.

I'll get a better pic tomorrow since it's dark out now.

11/6/23 was the original order date
1/15/24 delivery

Not bad, even considering it spent a solid month at the VPC.

What a difference in drive experience. It's definitely like stepping into the modern era. Both cars have M Performance Suspension, but I'm not losing my fillings every time I hit a bump in the road.

I have an M Performance Spoiler in my closet. I'm hoping the PPF place will know how to install it.

Good luck to everyone still waiting, and thanks for the support. I hope the wait isn't much longer!

That's helpful, thanks.

Seems like that type of thing is right up their alley. Removing stuff that is stuck to the car with adhesive, removing residue, and then adhering new stuff to the car.

Fantastic, it looks amazing! You might just be the first one from this group to pick up your car?

Glad to hear that about the improved ride quality, it seems like one of the first things F87 owners comment on.

Ours finally updated to At the Port again today!

Congrats! Looks great!

And I'm glad you mentioned this, and someone confirmed about the PPF place installing the spoiler. I may do the same.

There is not "week 1-4" group, so I've been keeping an eye on this group for the sake of setting realistic expectations on timing.

I just got the update that my car is finishing assembly today. Looking forward to it.

Until then, I get to see all of the updates here!

Anyone in this group with a car still in "at the port" status? Mine has been in Baltimore for almost a week now and no change in status waiting for the HAS kit install. I plan to call the BMW Genius later today to see if there are any specifics on the progress.

EDIT: my CA called me this morning. The HAS kit work order has been completed, and the car has been released to a carrier. The CA is thinking mid-week next week for picking it up. Now I need to find some snow tires!!

Still at the port. I only have the air inlets added. CA told me this AM ETA to dealer is 1/19 but my online status hasn’t changed. Has yours changed?

Edit:
Genius said it was released to carrier yesterday. Should be here soon!

Status is still "at the port". I read somewhere that once the car starts moving to the dealer it goes back to "in transit" again.

I’m also at port, though only a couple days deep and at NY.

I’ve also heard you can expect “in transit” status once the truck is en route to dealer.

Im in the early stages of my order. I was told that the carbon buckets i ordered are no longer available at the moment. Has anyone here been told that. The GM told me that IF it becomes available again before it hits the port, that it can be installed at port just like the MP HAS suspension. Thoughts?

I don't believe the carbon pack works that way since in order to get the seats you also must get the carbon fiber roof.

Yes, but the carbon roof is available as well as the carbon bits on the interior. I ordered the whole package. Originally i only had the carbon roof and the carbon bits and was going to get the sport seats. But i ended up adding the carbon seats, only to be told it wasnt available at the moment but if it becomes available it can be added at the port. This is through a trustworthy source as well (my friend and i have bought over 5 BMW's between us from him) Shit, if hes lying ill be pissed, but i doubt it. I was fine with the sports seats from the start so if i end up with them im sure it'll be fine. Just hoping it will be available again soon.

Got it. I guess I read it as this GM was saying you could just add carbon seats a la carte without the full carbon pack. What you are saying makes sense if your initial order/build includes the full carbon pack. So lets say you are paying the $9900 for the whole thing but by the time the car goes to the port the seats aren't available? Do you just get the car without them then they minus the price of just the seats, or will the car sit at the port until the seats are available? I feel like others that have been able to order the full carbon pack (but the seats were on backorder) had to wait until all the bits were available before the car was even assembled. Either way you do what you got to do for the spec that you want.

I would assume though that the car is manufactured at the plant in Mexico with the seats. No way they sent the car to the US without seats for the carbon buckets or with sport seats and then take them out at the port to then install the buckets in the US. This would seem terribly inefficient and the opposite of cost effective

It seems crazy that they would install at the port.

I've never heard of carbon buckets installed at the port, or of anyone being given this 'option' before.
