Typical MERC strategy errors.
Just like in Hungary, when they decided at the restart not to let Hammy pit for slicks after the formation lap because they would give up pole....
But the complete field did pit for slicks, and at that moment Merc knew they fucked up....
Way too focussed on position and afraid to give up the leading position in the race.
Mercedes strategy is abysmal. We say that from Ferrari, but MERC is just as bad.

Not going to argue the history of the sport, or its current composition. It's nearly impossible to end up in F1 unless you get into the European karting circuit, hence why no Americans know who Sargent is...

But the sport is going to follow the money. Look at how many races have shown up in the middle east. That's not because of history or the ethnicity of the drivers, it's because of money.

As far as having too many races in the US - I disagree. Sure the US is "one country" but as can be seen by the outrageous demand and pricing for the US based F1 races compared to those in Europe, there aren't enough yet. Overlay the US map onto the F1 races in Europe and it'll cover 9 races, just barely not able to reach down to the additional 4 middle-east races. Not sure what races are displaced, but as a sport that's growing beyond being just a European sport, the US is still underrepresented.

Trying to think of a midsized US city where I would like to see a new track. Don't care for street courses or half-ass street courses like Miami or Vegas.

A sad outlook for the true fan when even epic tracks like Spa and Silverstone are not secured and may be swapped for half ass improvised tracks on industrial estates of some big city god knows where.....

Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting we need another street course in the US. Far from it. I'd rather see someone develop an F1 level track that isn't a street course. Atlantic city is a garbage town and I'm not saying that's a great choice, but they're planning on building one.

There's just a pretty large market here with lots of people willing to throw down money. Comparing prices for any US race vs all of the other races, it's pretty clear.

Just a pie in the sky idea, but a dedicated track in the foothills of Denver would be pretty cool, elevation similar to Mexico city would throw a wrench in everyone's plans. It would also showcase a gorgeous part of the US. Also where Liberty's CEO lives, so he'd get to see the races up close and personal... Obviously someone would have to build it, and that's not cheap.

Denver would be a great idea. Along the lines of staying away from the glitz and glamour cities that price so many people out of the experience. But, they are still cool fun places with plenty of attractions.
