I'm 69 and have a Nov allocation. This will be my fifth BMW and my third M car. I miss my E46 M3 and hope the M2 will reignite some of that magic.

47 and my first M car should be here by late December.
I chose the M2 because to me, it is the car that most embodies all of M’s qualities and characteristics. Small ish, nimble, powerful and aggressive looking.
I have loved and wanted an M since I was 12 years old and my uncle took me for a spin in his E30 M3 back in the 80’s.
Now I can afford one, the M2 is the perfect shape for me. To me it looks like a modern version of the E30!!! Like I said, perfect!!!

The G87 is my first M car, and in fact it is one year old today having travelled 10,000kms (6k miles). During this period I have not had a single issue with the car...it is bloody brilliant (not to mention great value).

So far this decade I have had a Range Rover, followed-up by a Porsche, both cars had warranty claims in the short time I owned them both.

I am a retired fellow, who enjoys driving and in fact about to head off on my motorcycle for an early morning breakfast run....so the petrolhead thing remains a lifelong addiction (thankfully).

At my age I can give some solid advice and that is `life is short, don't waste a minute'.

I could care less how old someone is. If a 20 year old can afford it more power to them. Maybe their parents bought it? Who cares? Age means absolutely zero of you don't know the person.

i’ll start

Just turned 43 and wanted a small sports car that a lot of aftermarket support and easy to make power and did not break the bank. i came from a m8 and several previous M’s. I do have another ride for the family. Summary midlife crisis
I'm 76 - do I win?! I had the last 3 generations of manual M3/4 coupes starting with 2001 but they've gotten too big and did not like the schnoz. I do miss some of the more lux features, though.

lol you are projecting so hard dude. as i said... who WOULDNT have wanted to hit the "lotto" at 20? sounds sick. i hit the "lotto" in a million different ways over the years. i think many of us can say the same. maybe you are a nepo baby and have weird self confidence issues about it? i'll let you parse through that one with your therapist. p.s. someone's parents buying them an M2 qualifies as the birthright lotto. which again... if thats you, congrats, because the world is tough and nice things are nice. no sarcasm intended.

second... this thread is explicitly about the AGE of M2 owners. if you "could [sic] car less" about people's age... odd place to hang out i guess.

so you got your nuts in a twist over a joke throwaway line about how the average 20 year old might be a terror to his community in a brand new M2? i was a menace to public roads at 20 and that was in a rusty old WRX. go have a drink and stare at the stars buddy. perhaps you can find some perspective out there.

The Range Rover was purchased in 2018 for conveying international clients when visiting Sydney. Needless to say in 2020 (Covid) all international clients ceased coming to Australia and there was no need for the zen mobile (truly relaxing car to drive), which coincided with the release of the third generation Porsche Macan in 2021. Decided to stay with an SUV due to becoming a grandfather so ordered the Macan S and drove that for 18 months, liked that car, but never loved it and sold it for the RRP to a car dealer (they are in fairly high demand in Australia). I now have a Brooklyn grey 6 speed M2 and an Audi Q3 Sportback for grand-parenting duties, oh and a 2024 Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro motorcycle for those early Sunday morning rides.

Although I can afford to buy whatever I want, I find impossible to justify spending anymore money than what the G87 cost due to the undeniable bang for buck it delivers. For the record the BMW retails for $137k driveway in Sydney (although deals can be had) and it is considerably cheaper than another desirable drive down under.

Cheers and stay well
