woah woah wassup with the 600SS bashing bro. 600ss is nothing like the liter, and its fine to start on, IF you learn the proper way, and here in California it's the MSF.
I am sorry I am no squid but there is just no way Imna be seen with a 250 Ninja on the street. I just can't dude. I started on the 600SS crashed no more times than people who started on 250 or 650sv and rides no shittier now. Difference is I didn't have to switch bikes a year in. |

I'm not saying this is the case for you, but MOST people can't do shit all when on their 600SS tha tthey started on. You know why? because they are scared of the bike and can't do shit all when it comes to twisties or turns, yet they slow down to a crawl, and then on straights they think they are superman because apparently they can yank the throttle. Starting on a 600SS is nt the end of the world, but is it reccomended? NO. And whoever says starting on anything less than a 600SS is "useless" clearly needs to learn a thing or two more. I too was going to get a 600SS as my first bike, I'm glad I didn't. Motorcycles in this day and age can run loops around the skills the rider posseses, it is now a fight for the riders to try and tame and match their skill as much as they can to motorcycles, especially the 600SS and above. People forget these are not "look cool" things, and are based on racing and performance from MOTOGP from previous years before production. PS: I love 600SS and plan on moving up to one within a year. |

Sure people CAN start out on Supersports, but should they? No. I'm an upper member of the largest motorcycling group in the Northwest, PNWRiders, and I know dozens, if not hundreds of guys who have big 1000cc Supersport bikes or Hayabusas, etc... yet me on my measly 636cc bike smoke the ish out of them in the corners. I am waiting at every stop. Spend some time on a bike you don't have to worry about looping or spitting you off, and you can learn how to properly ride. Then when you get on a bigger bike, you're not trying to ride + battle the bike. Non-riders or squids will never understand that.

It is not stupid or feminine to start on a 250cc or 500cc. You can start on a 600cc bike but it will take you twice as long to learn the exact same thing. If you want to take your time and take a while to learn everything, go ahead and start on whtever bike you want to. But still don't get an extended swing arm, they are quite a hinderance when trying to ride correctly.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Are you implying I'm an idiot who's openly gay in the military or where you making a scarcastic statement because I'm dissuading the OP from dropping down to a 250cc? How about I put an end to this before it gets off topic and ugly. I served proudly, I did my time, I followed, I lead. 2 tours and I now study law. Don't take my immature antics to heart and leave it at that. This thread is about the OP and bike size. My opinions and experience has been offered up to the OP, not you.
