Unfortunately, smaller artists tend to have very limited distribution even within Japan, in both reach and quantity. You really have to follow the artists (on Twitter) to keep up with releases or look for used CDs down the line. The cost isn't too bad for me since we don't have any extra taxes or customs fees here, provided I'm shipping more than a couple of CDs at once. The important thing is that releases are generally obtainable if in stock.

For the most part, the easiest way to buy things is through a proxy service. I recommend DEJAPAN for this. Their base fee is only 100 yen per listing and they're quick to order and package and ship (generally within a few hours, always within 24). I've ordered hundreds of items through them over a dozen+ shipments and never had an issue. https://www.dejapan.com/en/

I would say it's a positive trend that more and more Japanese artists are releasing their works in digital formats as well, but I prefer CD (which is still the dominant media type there). I've gone as far as DMing artists to coordinate online orders, in-person purchases at events (through a friend in Japan), and even sending money directly... Definitely an addiction and obsession.

I recognize Unlucky Morpheus--they started out as a doujin circle. They seem to be more focused on their traditional band/commercial-minded side now, but they have a number of other CDs as well. Mostly 東方Project (Touhou Project) arrangements. See my guide above for more info if you're looking to collect their old CDs. Most of them should be easy to find, although not cheap.
