That’s not too bad right now. We spent about $6K on Cambria quartz for our master bath about 3 years ago and prices will only go up.

How I loath you. I had a nightmare of a time trying to add a piece to an existing kitchen. Long story is that we just ended up replacing the entire counter as the cost was marginal to switch to Quartz instead of fusing two small pieces onto the Corian.

First estimate came in $5,006 gutter guards and reseal inside of the gutters. we said, we can hold off on this. there are more projects that take priority. he offer $4800, no thanks not at this moment. final offer was $3800, we get put on standby list so crew will come in asap if any1 reschedules. I said no thank you, the storm gutters and leaders are new. not even a year old. to pay $4k for storm covers, pvc cover with smooth mesh, this allows water to go in, and prevents from anything sticking on it. he wouldnt say how much was labor or cost per section that comes in 5ft. I think in his mind he saw $$$ since both X3 were in driveway, he ask to come in to show product |

Yeah I paid $1400 8 years ago, was cheap because I had a caulker doing the entire outside of the house and he put them in so was already up there. Mine are all metal, no rubber or flimsy mesh, looks like a fine cheese grater so to speak.

Similar guards start at $0.70/foot at Lowes. You can buy the materials and rent a scissor lift for the day to install them for way less than $4,000.....

I can also tell you depending on the one you get some still need to be cleaned off from time to time and other just do not work well specially depending what kinds of things you have falling on your roof and how hard it rains. |

FWIW - I just scheduled gutter cleaning with a local company. They also do the gutter guards and their price to do a two story house, all four sides is about $1000. Includes materials, labor, cleaning and minor repairs. I'm just doing the cleaning right now but figured I'd mention the pricing.

Those companies and painters both use these smarmy tactics. My clients tell me all the time about how they start their pricing in the clouds and it gets lower and lower as time goes on. One person had a quote of 6,800 and it got down to 2,300 after a few weeks. Insane price drop and absolutely disgusting to try and screw people, not to mention a huge waste of everyone's time. With both of my companies the price is always the actual price. I never negotiate or offer discounts. Want a lower price, no problem, we can just remove things from the quote. |

Never priced Anderson so I can't comment on them, but I priced Pella years back (2002-ish) to replace some sliders with French doors and they were in a different league price-wise than everyone else. Crazy expensive. I replaced all the glass in our house with hurricane (impact-resistant) glass from PGT in 2017 and pretty sure the quote from Pella non-hurricane glass 15-ish years earlier was as much as the hurricane glass in 2017. Interested to hear how they price out for you.

I priced out Pella and Anderson a few years ago for my previous house. I wanted the sliders with the blinds in the glass. I HATE verticles. Anyway, Pella was ridiculous expensive and non responsive. Went with renewal by Anderson and they were great. Showed up on time for every appointment; initial estimate, measurements and install. Very professional. Install was great. You’d never know they were there. Used them again in current house for same sliders. They gave me the a discount for being a return customer. They guarantee all their work. Let me know how you do.

In finishing some of the prep work for painting the vacant room, I see a window (fixed portion) that is dual-paned, yet there is rust sitting in the bottom of the frame, and moisture INSIDE the glass above. Re-glaze, or replace?

Install was extremely messy because they had to cut drywall and concrete to get them in. The entire window frame is much thicker. We still haven’t repaired the wood trim they damaged. But at least I’m not carrying around and putting up galvanized steel shutters anymore. They were worth it.
