‘The M2 will be better ‘as a car-everything considered’. There you go with your favorite arguing point, your personal feelings. Feelings don’t mean squat except to the person feeling it. I’m a BMW guy and a Corvette guy and I have both. I like BMW and Corvettes and there others on this forum who do as well and many thousands out there that do the same, imagine that. You better sit down for this one, there even more than a few BMW guys right here who say they’re likely getting a C8. We really don’t have to read between the lines of the reviews to see that it’s still a Corvette at heart with Corvette DNA, why? because it is a Corvette, Holy Cow imagine that. I can’t imagine how you can even come up with such a silly talking point! We want our generations to be tied to their history and be an evolution of the breed, I guess you’d like to see Corvette turn into a completely different car so you can ‘feel’ it. Know this is shocking to you but lots of car people like Corvettes, buy them and enjoy them, on the track and street. The C8 era is just getting started and so far it’s a great start. https://fastestlaps.com/comparisons/6dcttdnhag80

The Vette has magnetic suspension, so ride quality will be a technological generation better than the BMW.
I love my m4, but at the end of the day it's a compromised sports car... that's why I bought it. I had a wife and a kid and I needed something with a back seat so I could sell the idea of owning a sports car to the wife at the time. Well, now I'm minus a wife and have full custody of my son so I don't have to answer to anyone and only need two seats. Therefore, the BMW has got to go to make room for the purpose built speed machine I wanted all along. |

Yeah he said that about the C7 years ago, where have you been? It’s not news now it’s ancient history. But Good ole Randy, he’s driven them all from the C7 ZR1, C7 Z06, C7 GS, C7 Base as well as the M2C and guess what? He spanked the M2C with every single one of them. Monkey butt and all. Just look at the premier sports cars Corvette has stomped, sorry sedans don’t count, they’re grocery getters and kiddy transport. Randy even thumped a M4 GTS will a C7 GS. You keep laughing at leaf springs while they’re passing some of the best handling cars on the planet. Man are you narrow minded. The C8’s will be considerably better, faster then the previous generations models. Just wait till R.P. Gets his hands on the official released C8 at Laguna then we’ll see how much your chuckling. How do ‘feel’ about that? I can’t wait. You’ll probably revert back to nonsensical complaints that it doesn't hold enough luggage and nit-pick at it points on the flanks that hurt your sensibilities. You should go to your safe space. Lols lols lols https://fastestlaps.com/tracks/laguna-seca-post-1988

No you’re not a hater, you’re envious. You’re also quite childish.

My 2014 Z51 C7 with the 3LT package had a MSRP of 78K. My 2012 C6 Z06 / Z07 had a MSRP around 104K but I was able to get for 25k off MSRP. I still miss that car. Almost bought a low mileage one for 51k several months ago. I am on the hunt for a 1970 / 1971 Cuda with a 340ci or 440ci. But I need to purchase our retirement house first. So depending what is important as far as options one could pick up a new C8 in the 60k range. I like all cars and motorcycles and I am not brand specific. Before buying my F90 M5 I thought a new Porsche 911 S /GTS was in the cards when I was transitioning from my M3 (F80). The cost of the car (911) played into my decision and after the options I wanted the cost was hovering around 140 - 155k. In addition the wife of 33 years looked at me and said, " You are crazy if you think I am driving to Las Vegas in this car". I have never been one to wrap my self around lap times. I never track my personal cars. I am a EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) Instructor at work, so I get to have some fun on the track during pursuit training having the students chase me around the track while I play the part of the suspect. So straight up, the C8 non Z51 would be a pretty good direct comparison to the M2 Competition. For track use, the M2 Competition would have a leg up on convenience, but down almost 100HP. You can carry a set of wheels and tires in the M2 plus tools to change said r-comp or slicks on track, while the Corvette you have to drive to and from the track on said r-comps. Not a huge deal breaker, but it does dramatically shorten the life of your r-comp depending on which one you use (NT-01? No big deal. Hoosier A7? Probably wouldn't be my choice to drive on them to and from a track). Hypothetically speaking, if I had to make a choice today, and if I don't already have my C7 Grand Sport AND my MZ4 Coupe, I'd be cross shopping these two cars, and I'd likely pick the M2 Competition based on what I know now. 10 years later? When my daughter is in her 4th year in college? Different story. I'd probably go with the 2 seater Corvette. Which puts GM in a bind. I'm the ideal age and demographic for the car, but pricing and practicality wise, it rules out the car unless I want to sacrifice one more parking spot in the garage and driveway. As is, their problem with me as a consumer is that they made the C7 chassis too good, and specifically the C7 Grand Sport, and the C8, despite all of its promises of a ground breaking paradigm shift, is not much of a performance improvement on track but demands a 20-25% price premium (I bought my C7 Grand Sport, 3LT w/ Z07 package, for $65K new. Same C7 Z51 would cost upwards of $90K for LESS performance). Which isn't to say, to those in my demographics, that the C8 isn't a fantastic car and deal. For those looking at a Corvette for the first time, it's still a game changer. But they haven't given ME any compelling reason to want to trade in my C7 GS in a few more years though. ![]()

The new vette isn’t that nice and will show its age quickly with the cheap leather etc. I know Matt Farah and his sentiments were that the 992 is much nicer than the C8 inside. I have a friend who has a 992, Huracan, Ferrari, 600LT and had several 991.2s and would tell you the Porsche is the best built of them all too. Last edited by Funf6cyl; 12-04-2019 at 02:28 PM.. |

There is no way someone can sit in a GT3/GTS with the alcantara/full leather package and say the interior is "bland", it's fucking incredible. The quality of the materials is clearly a level above the other German manufacturers too, except maybe Mercedes which has some pretty amazing quality interiors with the AMG cars and S class |
