Cyndi Lauper's Girls Just Want to Have Fun

This from the album She's So Unusual (1983), which lead to Lauper winning a well-deserved 1985 Grammy for Best New Artist.

Context (granted, YMMV): the 80s are just getting going, the country's still emerging from a general funk it's been in for a decade, American pop music creativity is exploding in all directions as usual, and along comes this remarkable free spirit from Queens via Brooklyn.

Holy carp that's gotta be it! Outdoors, which wasn't normal for the show. Good find. And yeah they're lip syncing for sure, that's the studio version of the song that's playing.

EDIT: Just watched the whole thing. Saw a sign saying it was Universal Studios Hollywood. Which now has me scratching my head - is this where we saw them, not SD Zoo as I seem to recall? Seems odd that they'd do AB twice. We visited Universal that year too so this must have been it. Looked for myself when they showed the crowd outside the fence - no dice. As Spicoli would have said.
