Yeah that is a good point. I know you can add "port-installed" options to the car up until the car is delivered to the port.

Mine was built around mid December and it still at the port, been there for about 2 weeks now, probably MP HAS delay.. I ordered mine in March…and it’s been delayed cause of all the “carbon fiber parts”. Which is sad..

The online production tracker shows my car is now "in transit". I assume that must mean it's on the carrier and on the way. I checked and its about 1150 miles from Baltimore to the dealership. Shouldn't be long now. My CA and I setup a tentative pickup date of next Thursday which also happens to be my bday. My wife cannot get mad at me on my bday so the timing could be perfect

Key dates:
12/1- Entered production queue
12/19- Final assembly completed
12/20- Ready for transport status
12/30- loaded and left Mexico on the Glovis Sun
1/11- unloaded at the Port of Baltimore
1/17- released to carrier after HAS work order completed
1/18- in transit to dealer

Congrats! How long was your vehicle at port? Mine arrived according to dealer yesterday in NJ but from what others said ship docked on Friday.

Genius said it was released to carrier yesterday. Should be here soon!

Just called BMW genius again and was told it was never even released to a carrier despite the person yesterday informing me it was released on 1/16… honestly who knows anymore lol

Genius info has been inconsistent for us as well through this process. Latest we got from them this morning was that the car has finished processing through the VPC and is awaiting carrier assignment, estimated delivery next Tuesday in Upstate NY.

Bummer. Does your CA have access to any accurate info, or perhaps a different path to escalate for info? I have noticed calling the genius hotline a few times that the service and info really depends on the specific person you are talking to. Some are good, while some are not.

Mine was on the same ship and same timeframe. But has not been released to carrier. Your HAS work must of been more important then mine 🙃.

I texted my CA and he said it has been released to a carrier but not picked up yet. He said the ETA for 1/19 has not changed and he’s hopeful for pickup today or tomorrow. I am only 3 hours from the Baltimore port, but I could see this getting delayed with the weather we’re getting tomorrow AM. We talked about potential pickup on Saturday, but it doesn’t really matter as it will be going to PPF and then sitting in my garage for a month or so - just want to know what’s going on lol. Plus, after nearly 18 months, I’d love to finally see the damn thing lol

Nice! Almost there!

That's a pretty swift turn around.

My car was at the port for a month, and Genius told me that some times the CA has more granular info about why things are not moving. They probably also have contacts at the port.

Honestly I have gotten really lucky on a lot of steps since my order was officially placed. And until I actually see the car at the dealership I suppose anything could happen in terms of delays.

It could also be the 3rd party carriers for certain cities/dealerships having different bandwidths too.

Cheers everyone! I was in the same boat back in 2021, yes during COVID, and the wait time was insane, so happy to see things are moving much more quickly now!

Yes, I have optioned the whole package. They would just subtract the seats if they arent available. Dude was confident its something that can be added at the port. i was surprised too, but we've been working with this guy for years and is always reliable. I'll keep everyone posted on what happens. If i have to get the sports seats, it is what it is! Ill still be happy with the car.
Thanks for the dialogue everyone...

MyGarage and Genius have advised my car has left Port in NJ and is in Transit to the dealer, expected tomorrow!! My CA has not reached out, of course.

How long were you guys able to get your VIN to track the production of the car after you received your allocation? I still havnt received mine and supposedly i got my allocation in December. I did spec buckets when i ordered the car so I understand my production timeline will be longer than most, but i feel like i should be able to get the tracking information by now?

I think I got my production number right when the car went into production and was assigned the "entering production queue" status. The Vin was in the production tracker when I logged in the first time.

Dealer should give you something to track it. VIN is the first step of production and it pops up in mygarage.

Your order form should have the cars production number; your dealer can also provide it. As others advised, once it enters production you are assigned a VIN that will be visible in the tracker.

It's possible my car hasnt entered production yet. The wording i keep getting from my SA is that the car is in line for production.

Also checked my order page and theres no production number on it. It did say the status was 047 but this was beginning of November.
