Awesome, happy to be wrong about this. Mine is sitting in the port in Mexico waiting to be shipped, so will be in the clear if the May 1st date is correct.

YMMV FWIW
I don’t know…my sales rep, when I bring this up to him, says he is keeping his fingers crossed that it all works out…not very reassuring.

Gents, got some solid reliable information from a source close to BMW corporate. Can’t give more info than this to protect integrity of my source.

Apparently as we know, all cars with a build week scheduled BEFORE 5/1 will be price protected. Any cars going into production / scheduled for prod after 5/1 will be subject to a +4% price increase on MSRP to account for tariffs. Aka BMW is taking a 21% hit.

I wouldn’t post this if I didn’t feel my source was very plugged in and reliable. Hope this helps any nervous Nellie’s like myself with a prod time of week 18.

No.

BMW is getting 22.5% additional cost on the production.

Equating to about $10k cash paid to US govt by BMW USA on import.

They are charging around 30% of that 10k down to the customer and absorbing the remaining 70%

It's the landed cost that BMW USA pays to BMW AG that is seeing the increase not the retail price.

So BMW is taking a smaller hit than what is indicated. Not that it matters, but it's going to be 25% of wholesale -4% of retail.

So probably around a 17% hit on wholesale pricind. That means their magins are pretty good because they aren't going to take 0 profit to move cars.

I would take the 4% hit, but I already secured a different car. My original build was scheduled week 19. So with the price increase I guess I'll get my deposit back on the car I backed out of.

That's not terrible. If this holds, and I'm after the 5/1 date, I would still move forward.

Thanks for sharing. I assume this is for all cars produced in Mexico?
