Back to our regularly scheduled program. Some very interesting info that might come to be in the near future of Corvette. The future sure looks exciting for Team C8.

So what you are saying is that you would rather have a C8 Vette and a Gold Rolex over a 992S?

C8 with corrected paint, PPF, ceramic sealant, window tint, exhaust, HRE rims and tires... plus an entirely new set of golf clubs, cart bag, and a dinner at Ruth's Chris. You got a deal!

I was with you until the Ruth's Chris. With that restaurant - you aren't getting any sides and have to drink water.

Nah- its a tradition for me (and a date) to go all out on NYE at Ruth's and it's ~$300 with tip. Admittedly I'm drinking liquor and not an expensive bottle of wine.

I dunno, if it were not for the back seats in the 911 i'd take a Corvette and a used GT350 or 4C over a 992S

First year car, strike at GM, corvid and a very few cars were released like that. Not to mention the company will make them right.
I can’t tell you how many times I had had to bring my BMW back to fix shit. Including blistering paint, intermittent working seat adjustments and bad alignment which needed to be done front and back and on top of that about 8 or more recalls. Worst new car experience I’ve ever had and I’ve had more then a few. My first and last BMW.

That's fair. My first BMW, they bought the car back after 2 years and gave me all my money back.
But did those mechanical issues come slowly or right outta the assembly line?
I tend to get real bent about things I can spot visually wrong especially when it's new. Like uneven gaps in the body or interior.

All three issues were within about 2 months. The paint was noticed by my wife in the first week of taking possession.

So that made me all paranoid and I checked all the stitching on my 2SS 1LE. Nope, all straight. There has to be some backstory to this, if they can get it right everywhere else.

wow. I hope they lemon'd it and bought your car back like they did with me. I had far less problems that happened in a 2 year stretch.

It just seem like negligent on the quality control, especially since there's so much hype on the launch of this new vette and it's literally right in front of your face. But i'm sure they've addressed it due to the PR storm it got.

I don't know what you guys are complaining about. It costs a LOT less than a Porsche. It costs a LOT less than a Ferrari. And yet it will keep up with them, and depending on driver mod, might beat them too.

It took me almost a year of ownership of my M car to notice that the carbon fiber trim is real. And all I thought was "oh.... so that's where the money went". I'd rather take quickness instead.

it really comes down to how the car make you feel when you're in it. if it's about going fast and cost less... then really, a lot of cars can do that.

Well, kind of. "Weave" pattern CF is usually cosmetic and for appearance. Unidirectional layers are for strength. Lots of places use UD and then a weave pattern for the very top layer, for the cosmetic effect. Lots use weave patterns when they could use UD, although UD is harder to work with.

Random question for the minds of this thread, I should go ask the Corvette forum but lol figured I'd see what you guys had to say first:

Friend of mine after looking at too many C7 GS and Z06 lately has decided that for $ spent on one of those two cars he would rather have a C8. Problem is, he needs one in his possession by June (for... Reasons.) And he doesn't want to pay over sticker...

I told him this is a pipe-dream. Agree or disagree? Anybody want to give it odds? Lol

Agree. I am status 3000 so supposedly Chevrolet will build me a 2020 whenever they get back in the factory. I’m not anticipating a car in my hands until September or October if at all. Now he could get lucky and get a C8 at sticker if things worsen and is not picky on options.

Yeah, I told him the same thing, he either needs to get realllllyyyy lucky or pay over sticker haha
I know he wants Z51 mainly as his only 'picky' option

It does seem like a few dealers have inventory on the C8. Might be worth contacting a dealer to see if the will take a MSRP offer or slightly above. They might just want to turn inventory wherever they can right now.

Some of the deals on the current Z06 and GS C7s are really tempting though.

I did see an article that had a title along the lines of Manufactures wanting to turn production back on in May, but the UAW was having some push back.
