- Finish filling up passport, just travel. Eat good food in other countries. Try my damndest to not make babies in said countries.

- When I'm done with that, I'll come back and coach little league. Give back where I can / want. Plant a strawberry patch. And or be cmyx6go 's pool boy. If there's no pool? Yet another retirement project. Build her a pool and then be her pool boy.

- Watch movies in bed with all day with wtwo3 's in-laws. Hopefully it's not Lifetime movies.

- Save ASBSECU E93's barnyard animals from becoming pot pie.

- Do nothing if I want and do anything if I want.

That's a black hole man.... you might never get out. But at least you'll be well versed in South Asian movies.

Gotta love them random dance numbers no matter the genre of movie.

Funeral? Random dance sequence.
Zombie outbreak? Random dance sequence.
Period piece from Balochistan Conflict? Random dance sequence.

On a serious note, there is a great need for volunteer work for all sorts of things: food banks, animal shelters, and so much more.

Does your local co-op need volunteers/members?

How about volunteer consultant? Two guys who were struggling with their small business many years ago, got hooked up with a retiree volunteer consultant, who gave them some guidance. Decades later, I'm about to eat some of Ben Cohen's and Jerry Greenfield's ice cream.

I would be content to keep doing what I do until I die of old age, health and such permitting. I probably won't be able to do so. We'll see.

I heard there's good money in raising Peruvian Racing spiders, then selling their ground up eyebrows to epoxy manufacturing companies.

Small foot print, anyway.

I want to own a coin shop. Sounds boring I know but I can stare at them for hours and the history is interesting to me. Nothing like holding 200 yr old coin or even one 2000 years old and wondering where have you been.

I didn't read this whole thread so forgive if it's a duplicate. I want my retirement job to be driving the safety car for F1 races. I'll also settle for the safety car driver for MotoGP as well. Hey, why not aim high?

I've been doing most of the cooking and I'm getting pretty good at improvising now that I understand more about the spices and quantities of ingredients. I'd like to get back into my photography hobby, but I need to find the time. Something I never thought I'd be short of in retirement.

I wouldn't go "back to work" for any salary. Retirement is too sweet.
Someone I know who retired earlier this year said to me: "I wish I'd never worked so hard."

That sounds more like a dream job than a retirement job. Wonder how much they're paid. And what the barrier of entry is.

I joined SCORE which is a volunteer mentoring organization for start-up businesses and people wanting to start a business. Almost through the training and “ride-along” mentoring sessions.

1. Pool boy.
Not because I watched the toxic avenger… and felt inspired. In the movies the pool guy is usually minding his own business and in a world of his own. Looks relaxing. To me at least.

2. Walmart Security Guard. I have it my head they must see a lot of funny stuff.

I'll have plenty of money, but I get bored easily. I think I will be able to keep myself busy for 6-12 months, but then I'll get bored. I'm not a guy who can fish/golf/hunt/bowl/etc every single day.

When I go to Home Depot (etc) - I love those old guys walking around. The difference in those and the younger people is astounding. The difference is one HAS to be there and one WANTS to be there. Many probably had jobs like mine their whole life where you are dealing with issues all day and constantly being asked what to do and how to fix an issue.

Having "How long do you need me to cut this board?" being that absolute ONLY thing on my mind from moment to moment would be an amazing feeling. I could see me doing something like that 2-3 days a week just to keep me sane. "Nails? Isle 7" "Sure I can get that down for you......" "Take this cart and put shit back where it belongs? You bet."

Really odd job...

There's an opening at a local restaurant, picking fly crap out of pepper shakers.

homestead, farm, buy dilapidated buildings and fix them up to resell. Retirement should be the slow life and doing things that are fun but don't pay money. Go fish, golf and poker with the homies. Road trip in the USA and same internationally.

This is how I feel about car sales. I feel like I'd kill it as a car salesman as a retirement gig because I'd be there since I love cars, not because I need the money.

I tried selling the dealership on that one at 18 - it was a real moment of dis-inspiration. I basically told the manager 'nobody here knows a/t about cars, and they care even less'. Laughed me off the lot, but at least told me why. Turns out they actually want somebody who is hungry to make sales and DGAF about what they are selling.

Which brand was it?

I've also learned over my years of experience.... you shouldn't be honest in an interview for something you actually want.... you should tell them what they want to hear. While being passionate about something is all butterflies and sunshine, it doesn't mean squat if they're not convinced you'll be able to translate that passion into results. A dealership won't want to hire me because I'm passionate about cars... they want to hire me because I'll bring in money. How I go about bringing in that money is between me and myself (as long as it's legal).
