Alright so I just built a new 23 Audi RS3 pretty heavily optioned and it came out around $65.5k before delivery.
I'd be surprised if the new M2 comes in much higher than that given the RS3 is really the closest in competition/pricing IMO. Lately I've been considering pulling my deposit and getting a GT350R. Somebody tell me I'm not crazy for thinking that

Just got on my local dealer list. He said I was #15 on the list right now. I wonder how many months will wait time be for them to get the first 15 allocations. Is there a larger launch drop, or is it still limited?

Yikes! You might want to look elsewhere to see if you can acquire a lower allocation spot.

A typical dealer gets 0-2 allocations a month. |

I'll fill you in on a little tactic that I adopted years ago. I got fed up with dealers BS'n me, giving up my slot to a higher bidder, etc. So, I decided if that's the game they want to play so be it. I placed deposits with multiple dealers. Mind you, they are all refundable by law in my state should you decide to cancel the contract. Then I sat back and waited. Sure enough as expected I got played by some dealers, but eventually I secured an allocation that went into production, got the VIN, etc. Only then did I cancel all my other allocations and got my $$$ back. That's another reason why you'll see people drop out, because they found an allocation elsewhere. |

As I always tell individuals when they are shopping around, if it is not written on a buyers order with the sales manager signature then your alleged allocation spot/number does not mean jack. Also have it stipulate the purchase price if available, or any of the following that apply; at MSRP, % off MSRP or % above invoice.

I ordered both as well, a 23 RS3 in Daytona Grey just around 65k as well. I put 1k down on an allocation for the G87 last Friday. Im puzzled on what to get. I hope it looks great so I can have my mind made up! |

Talked to many dealers in my area and got on two separate lists with the 5th and 7th spot in writing. Had a couple others saying they wouldn't do anything until the car has officially been announced. A sales manager at my local dealer told me in person that in reality I need to lower my expectations as he believes it will never get to the 5th person and that any dealer would be lucky to get just one of these. He claims he has seen the car in person and suspects low production numbers and doubts they will sell anywhere near msrp. Should I be taking what he says with a grain of salt?

Total BS… he is either relatively new or just full of it. The only M cars BMW currently produces in low volume are the the CS and CSL variants. They pump everything else out as much as they can sans supply constraints. |

I think the only way this will have low production is that oil is 200 and inflation is off the charts everywhere I would anticapate lower numbers then the F87 but maybe 5-10% lower unless the above factor has an effect. BMW is a busniess and the only way this car will make sence is in Scale.
