You basically said they upcharge it for more than it's worth and push sales either downward towards to M240i or upwards to the M3/4 which have great exterior colors options (especially that Isle of Man green!) and like 15+ upholstery picks (some very aggressive looking!). So what's the core selling point of the new M2 then, rarity and hype? Honestly curious what everyone thinks. Rewinding to the release of the original M2 (recall it from NFS:NL actually), I was honestly completely sold. The body kit was much more aggressive, the LLB looked unique enough, it had a m diff, obviously better suspension, the added hp was very useable, and drop in mpg was minimal vs. the M235i. Then the M240i(x) came out with the B58 which trumped the N55 in just about every aspect. I still preferred the manual M2 LCI (2018) vs. the the F22 M240i though, but by a narrow margin. Then the M2 Comp was released, and I was honestly not impressed. It added weight, got much worse mpg, and was only like .1 seconds faster in 0-60mph. Did it handle better, yup, but I didn't feel it was worth it if you didn't live by twisty roads, etc. Finally the G42 got released that had even more power than the F22 and most importantly the m differential stock. Aside from the subjective styling, the reviews have been great for it thus far. It's bridged the gap in daily driving performance while maintaining practicality. Curious as the how the G87 will turn out, but I'm not holding my breath for an option I would personally go with. Hopefully some of the suspension bits, wheels, cooling upgrades, etc. will be available for the G42 though (we will see). |

Maybe you're asking why buy the M2 then? BMW can't put out a product to entice buyers and then not sell it. The benefits of having an M2 in the lineup outweigh the development costs.

The chances of seeing a G87 in the wild will be less frequent than the G42 which I've seen maybe 3-4x on the road since launch. |

As hinted, it's you've essentially said that anyone that buys the M2 is getting ripped off though (which I also kind of agree with). The M240i makes sense as does the M3/4 with luxury options. The M2... not so much. If you want a lightweight sports car look at Porsche, Supra, Z, etc. |

Afraid he isn't.
He rants about why buy a M2 over a M240. Then his last sentence is..."Hopefully some of the suspension bits, wheels, cooling upgrades, etc. will be available for the G42 though (we will see)". Last edited by M3WC; 09-05-2022 at 02:47 AM.. |

As many know and my 0.02, the manual version of the G87 is simply the main reason why you purchase it over the G42 B58. If the M240 was offered with a manual I suspect that many of us would pursue it. It already offers better interior/exterior colors.

Based on the colours available, I may also pass. Very disappointing when I have a deposit with the bill of sale signed stating 1st allocation @ msrp for my dealer. |

Regardless of what happens in regards to the exterior/interior colors and options I intend to follow through. Being one of the very first to take delivery typically comes with a significant advantage as those that are willing to pay dearly to have one now are willing to do so. |

I totally understand limiting standard colors is a great way to upsell customers into the more expensive individual colors. On the flipside, wouldn't offering individual colors detract from them upselling customers to the M3/4? Being able to pick tasty colors on the G87 will likely eliminate a few would-be G82 buyers I imagine. |

I voted Zandvoort Blue but after seeing this M240 in Brooklyn Gray, I'm tempted! My RS3 was Nardo gray, so I wanted something different. As others have also said the Zandvoort Blue also reminds me of the Velicitor N but I think ZB will be lighter. I'm starting to think the ZB will be light enough that it will show dirt too much?

And how do you know that the M2 makes no sense? It hasn't been released yet, and the only reviews are of 3 - 6 month old prototypes. We DO know that: 1) The S58T engine will be AMAZING, because we've driven X3M Competitions M4 Competitions; 2) The M2 will have an adaptive suspension which worked wonders in the CS; 3) The G87 will match the M2CS, according to BMW, and the M2CS is incredible; 4) It will have a manual transmission, to which we should all be doing cartwheels; 5) It has a shorter wheel base than the M3/4 and according to all of the reviewers of the prototypes is more nimble. So, all of this gives me great hope! |

Brooklyn grey. If I decide to order the car, then I'm sure I'll want to use it as a daily driver to get the most mileage and fun out of it. BG is light enough to allow for all the angles/lines/shadows to be seen on the car and yet subtle enough to fly under the radar if needed.
