So... Another post says we won't get reviews until April 8th, if I understood it right.

https://g42.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1998296

I hoped to get up this morning and see a bunch of good reviews but - nope. Maybe later today per 2 posts above, or maybe another week per the link I inserted?

I am uncertain that the SavageGeese guys were in attendance for the press event in Arizona. I am not even sure if they have press credentials?

It is without a doubt tonight, April 2, 2023 at 6 PM. Many of the media that were in attendance in Arizona for the press event have stated such.

April 8th is the official G87 launch date for BMW Centers. The Stop Sale for the HEA cars will be removed as well.

Leaving the debate/criticism for the design aside, I hope BMW got it right.

7 more hours for what feels like an exam and the test results.

It doesn't sound like he liked it that much.
I will be skipping the "looks" section from these reviewers. I honestly don't care one bit what these guys/gals think of how it looks.
I have seen some pictures of their current cars and their significant others... OBVIOUSLY looks are subjective and not that important to them.

But who am I to judge, I think my wife is a Solid 8.5, but everyone else says she is a 10! So, my judgement is off too

Agreed...
battery and wheels alone will be a great start!
I am going for the carbon seats/roof too (if timing is right).
I don't know if there are any stats out concerning weight in motion sloshing around side to side by the rear axle... but I am also going to have less than 5 gallons of gas in the car at any one time. I will not be driving 50+miles per trip in this car. More like 5-10 miles on weekends.
4 gallons=25 lbs
13 gallons=80 lbs
Weight savings!!!

After the actual M2 weight is revealed to be a little less than the pre-release spec sheet (i.e. it will way less than the M4), it will creep down next to the M4 on this list.

It really is a case that the G87 M2 isn’t not going to get any smaller or lighter on the CLAR platform without significant increase in price to close to that of the M4 to replace steel panels with lighter weight materials. The M2 wouldn’t exist on a unique platform at an economic price for its low volume, the only alternative would be on the FWD biased UKL2 platform.

If you take a look at similar M-cars (with a Porsche 718 GT4 and Caterham R400 that I own for comparison), looking at the relative size based on comparable nominal volume the car occupies (length x width x height), you can divide that volume into weight to get the kg/m^3 where lower is better. The M2 is close to the GT4. Both M2 and Z4 on the CLAR platform are not as good as the G8x M3 and M4 due to the smaller size, comparable platform and mechanical systems weight.

Overall though no BMW M-car of this millennium is light weight for track use, they all are grouped together, the Caterham stats show how far away a light weight car can be.

Model - length x width (no mirrors) x height, (volume}, DIN weight, (kg / m^3):

E39 M5 - 4.783m x 1.801m x 1.412m, (12.163m^3), 1795kg, (148)
G29 Z4 M40i - 4.324m x 1.864m x 1.304m, (10.510m^3) 1535kg [...]
I’m not saying I have a great system, but this weird inverse density calculation method doesn’t make sense to me at all. Based on this method, an empty tractor/trailer would dominate.

I found it extremely humorous many months ago that Andy Preuninger, the head of the Porsche GT division stated that Americans should be a little more concerned about their own weight than the vehicle weight. Followed by something along the lines of, they also fail to realize that they, themselves add to the weight of a vehicle.

It is designed to compare comparable performance vehicles, but if you do your own calculations you will see that even an unloaded semi with trailer is around 100kg/m^3, the tractor itself around 120kg/m^3, fully loaded it is around 200kg/m^3. A Harley motorcycle is about 120kg/m^3, an F1 car 66kg/m^3.

Although I don't disagree with his premise that's not a terribly smart thing to say marketing wise and for customer relations. Wonder if anyone at Porsche had a word with him afterwards.

Lamborghini said the same to another overweight youtuber who complained about the interior being cramped in huracan/aventador. They replied with "this is not the cars fault"
