The M2c and M2cs track times were run before he owned his OG.

Gosh I can't wait until the next gen fully electric m2 puts down better numbers and is better in every objective way, and suddenly the same people who only care about objective numbers, will start screaming about the subjective quality of ICE cars, a MT, less weight, the g87, character etc.

I have no intention of buying one, but I'm interested to see how the 718 EV plays out. If/when I do get an EV I'll still keep my manual ICE cars for however long it makes sense to. It's crazy how we're allowed to own and enjoy multiple cars and aren't forced to ditch our current ride for the next generation |

Proof of the childishness of this debate from F87 folks. “Yeah, well the next-next M2 is going to be even better than yours!” OK? Fantastic. |

Makes you wonder why anyone in their right mind would buy a 911...

From what I understand the G87 is more capable than the F87 (thank god) and better behaved. Doesn't mean it's actually better / interesting as an overall experience to drive... Like EVs, they are surely capable in some aspect and faster, do I want to drive that ? hell no.
I've had an F87, and F82 and currently an AWD G80. Of course the G80 is faster anywhere, safer, slides so predictable and progressive and list goes on... Is it more fun than my previous F82 / F87 and it's loud DCT fart when upshifting during WOT near the red line? not a chance... Do you need to respect it otherwise it might kill you by snapping ? No... Now to get "fun" in a G80 you absolutely need a track to make that car feel alive, and it's at least as much engaging there. The F gen was easier to have fun with on the normal road and speeds. So I can kind of understand what Thomas was trying to say in that review. Objectively the new car is better... but subjectively you'd take the old one for a fun week end drive. |

How much more will they bang on about the weight. I have looked up a bunch of cars and cars considered super in the last 15-20 years with the same or less horsepower were heavier yet they raved about them. Boring!!!! Change the content gents!

The most annoying thing about this review is that you can’t get either car very easily. My lady is interested in the new M2, but the HEA car has already been sold at our local dealer, and she didn’t get a chance to drive it. Same thing with the RS3, she really likes it, but we can’t even find one to sit in, much less drive - there’s a waiting list a mile long and very few allocations.
With that being said, both are worth wanting. I like the styling of the Audi better (especially the interior) but I’m sure the M2 is a more entertaining drive.

Wish I could test drive an RS3 and it wouldn’t take years to get one if I signed up today. It does seem like a fun car, and similarly spec’d is around $70k.
It does look and sound great, but since I got into the G87 process so early I’ll have to stick to it It is funny how TH shits on the G87 soooo hard still but then says how every area of the car performs amazing. Get over it boys it added a couple hundred pounds for way more power and capability. |

The weight is correct. Its the official EU weight of the M2 with the automatic. The quotet 1800kg include the driver with 68kg and luggage with 7kg. So that means without driver the stock M2 auto should weigh in at 1725kg.

I understand your prediction that current G87 owners are going to become hypocrites when the next M2 comes out and it’s inevitably better. As I said, you’re wrong in my case; I’ve had 3 M2C and enjoyed them until BMW M made something better. I’ll enjoy my G87s until they make something better, likely starting with Comp, CS, or CSL variants.
G87 owners in 2023 are likely to be early adopters and are fine with change and are less likely to cling to older tech. If your finer point is to preemptively call G87 owners hypocrites for possibly having qualms with going from ICE to EV, that makes no sense and is not a good point. F87 -> G87 is nothing like the coming EV transition, completely disingenuous argument. |
