Did yours not come with the factory installed plastic grille on the rads? Did the rock break the plastic and puncture the rad?
The rock went right through the plastic on mine. No protection.

I did. I believe it will fit over the adaptive cruise module. If you look at the pictures the grill installs in front of the plastic supports and the adaptive cruise sits behind those.

They said that they have other vehicles they make grills for that have adaptive cruise and those have functioned normally. They didn't say if they might produce another version of this grill to fit cars with adaptive cruise.

Kk, thanks. I will check the placement of the adaptive cruise on Wednesday when I take delivery. I emailed them too but have not heard back yet. Will update if hear anything.

Interesting because I did point this out very early on based on pictures and speculated that the automatics likely didn’t have this protective grille because of the big adaptive cruise control radar up front which likely prevents a lot of air flow. But I’ve since seen many automatics have this grille so I’m not sure how bmw is deciding to put it on some and not others… regardless, the factory grille is too flimsy to 100% protect the rad against damage and you’d need an aftermarket solution anyways

I think the Zunsport should work fine for rocks and small debris bouncing off the road - not so much if you drive over a larger object. Realize that air coming in through the front intake is being forced out through the bottom opening with a lot of force. I don't believe there would be a restriction problem. Sort of wish I'd seen this solution before getting the Mishimoto (not yet installed).

Yeah I agree. I’ll start with the Zunsport and hopefully that’s enough protection. And down the road I’ll probably upgrade the rads as well mostly from a cooling point of view if I decide to track it… mind you the stock rads are damn good but since the aftermarket’s do come with extra protection then another reason to get them

I heard back from Zunsports. They mentioned they still need to test the grill on cars with the adaptive cruise module.

The fix might be a retroactive piece, or a change for LCI/next model. We shouldn't keep hopes up because it's been tested and not a lot has happened to these pieces anyway.

I mean, I "bought my $1,600 rock" way before this thread, when my car had 600km... Nothing I could do and I'm still exposed to another one.
The more of us complain, the more likely they are to do something. In the spirit of camaraderie, we should all express our concerns directly.

I just installed the Mishimoto plate. Got ramps from Harbor Freight and 2 chucks. Used 2 2x4 to lift it a bit before entering the ramp since the front bumper was too close. Got the tools and the hardware. Very easy installation BUT even if I was super careful, a mounting grommet (the one by the half circle cuttout) broke off a few minutes after tighten it up. Anyone knows the part number?
