no its like 3 months but the reason i left Cadillac and came to BMW is the fact that the aftermarket support is almost none, they can even tune the cars currently due to GM's global B system. there is a ton more support and i think there is more potential in the BMW

I'm still on the fence about a couple features, namely the HUD and the heated steering wheel. The wheel, I could not care less about, but it may help with resale value down the line. The HUD is pricey, and I thought it was a lot of fun in the car I test drove, but I'm not sure if it's really worth it. I have until the order is sent for production to decide.

I'm coming from a 2007 Corolla CE, so hopefully this feels like an upgrade

HUD is really nice if you track the car. Once you have it whether you track it or not, you’ll not want to buy another car without it.

I’ve had HUD on my last three cars and it still feels like a gimmick. It’s also extremely annoying to use at night since it creates a glow on your windshield. I already feel like this car has too many screens, so I opted out as an excuse to spend money on the carbon roof and MP HAS instead.

That’s one reason smart buyers deal with North Scottsdale BMW and not your dealership.

Yep. I had HUD on my 340i and hated it.

If there’s one of these options that helps resale, it is the HUD. It’s worth every penny regardless if you track or not. I wouldn’t buy another car without it tbh

I think you’ll find it a nice upgrade.

Do you just not like the Carbon Buckets? This will be one unique spec with all the Carbon package but but the buckets. Curious about the M Drivers pack, what’s the appeal there for $2500 in the US? The M class you get out of it could be had for a lot less, especially with a CCA discount.

I think the HUD is great, and I like being able to navigate without looking away from the road.

Drivers' pack also unlocks the limiter to 177MPH, if you care about that. Which I don't. It seems like a terrible option TBH?

Agreed. That’s why I was curious why OP wanted it. I’d get it in a heartbeat if I commuted on the Autobahn. Here, seems pointless unless you’re doing very specific high speed track work.

Also agree, the iDrive8 HUD is awesome.

Dunno man, It's dicey up in that range unless you've got a lot of downforce. I don't think I'd take a stock BMW above 140 on the Bahn.

Sure, add aero and a closed track, things would be different. Not sure why you'd be doing that with a G87 specifically, as opposed to a Veyron.

And if it's MT, you are getting into some crappy gear ratios and I'm not even sure that the G87 can actually get to 177. I'm sure that's into 6th gear, I doubt torque at that point can overcome wind resistance.

Hi everyone, sorry if this has been asked before, but I tried to comb through as many of the post as I could before my eyes started to hurt. Finally getting back into a BMW, formerly I owned a '14 335 and '14 550 so it's been awhile. Anyways, I went to my dealer last week and put the deposit down on a new M2 MT. He told me est production Aug and delivery by Sept. I've never ordered a vehicle before so I'm not really too informed of the process. His response was that if they get the # they typically get allocated, the Aug prod date should be pretty accurate. However, I've come across of a lot of people saying fall to next spring time frames. Honestly, I don't want to wait that long. So, my questions are, do you feel he's being realistic and 2) Should I think more about an M3?
I love the looks of the M2 but not sure if I'm ready for a coupe as a DD. With the M3, I actually like the looks of it and having the sedan would be a huge plus long term but I'm probably still 65/35 leaning towards staying on the list for the M2. Any insight would be great. Thanks in advance.

Build date estimates mean little until your dealer has an allocation, so I'd start with that. All estimates are just wild guesses until you are in the order bank, and have an allocation with a production number. Allocations for MY23 are scarce and I'd be surprised if they are just sitting on one, so I'm a little sus.

IF you get an allocation with a production number, then BMW (not the dealer) will assign the allocation an estimated build week, and that estimate is pretty trustworthy. Not guaranteed, because supply chain problems are still popping up, but as good as you can probably get.

M3 build wait times are also high, I think, so not sure you could get that appreciably faster.

I can't comment on whether you should get a coupe or sedan, only you can answer that. But M2 rear seats are smaller than both the M3 and M4, not really suitable for adults, so factor that in.

Edit: this is worth a read.

Thanks for the info, the post was def a good read to at least understand the process and I can at least ask better questions to get better answers for what I hope to happen.

Just got a call from my dealer asking me if I am interested in a Toronto Red 8/spd that is coming form the port next week. No dealer markup and actually under MSRP. I jumped on it before they could finish their sentence.

$67k MSRP, $0 due at signing, $999/month 12k/36

What???? LOL. My 'stock' M235i/M440ix/17-M2 and 22 M240i are quite stable on the good roads/Autobahn most areas I drive. The cars, certainly most M are more than capable of dealing such forces. Weak link is a driver!!

I'll be using it as a daily more often than tracking it, but wanted carbon fiber everything else. I mostly like the look. I've seen reviews go back and forth on whether the buckets are comfortable enough for daily, but I got to test drive the sports seats and really liked them. I can't seem to find anyone with the buckets available to try them out.

I didn't know about the discount. I'll definitely be looking into that! I do want the class as I may have some friends make a trip out of it. But I also wanted the raised speed limit. I didn't like the idea of having a low limit on such a powerful car. I wish they would separate them out

Test drive a M3/4 with the Carbon seats. You’re paying for everything else in the Carbon Package that BMW forces people who just want the CB to buy. So the value proposition is different in your case. Most people don’t want the M Drivers Pack and would love to be able to ala carte the seats as in the M3/4.
