Beautiful dogs! I've always loved the Samoyed. They have great dispositions, are excellent with kids, and just lovely dogs to be around. Of course, our rule the house and our lives now revolve around them.

We started with one as a pet (female, who became my dog), got a second as a pet/show dog (our male, Kaiser) who has done extremely well, and then got our 2nd female, who is attached to my wife and another show dog. Those two were inadvertently left in the backyard alone at the wrong time. 2 months later, we had our first litter and got my wife hooked on breeding. We kept one of the girls (momma in the picture below), because we just can't stop with 3. Over time, my wife got more involved in dog shows and is establishing herself as a reputable breeder. Celeste is #5 in the pack, largely because she's got all of the right traits to win and produce good puppies. Plus, my wife really regrets not keeping one of the girls from our litter from earlier this year.

Not really. They prefer to be around us so the can chew on our toes. 🤣 Our last litter was big into belly rubs, which was about the only way we could get them to lay next to us.

I've found Samoyeds to not be the best cuddle dogs. They get hot, and leave to find a cold spot.
The good is, they won't sleep on the couch for that reason.

Same here. Ours are not big cuddlers. They want there loves, but then they'll get up when they've had enough. Ours do take over the couches and the bed, but eventually they leave and go lay on the tile because it's cooler.

In this joyous season I'm always reminded of a great pet-related story from back in my early days in the lumber business.

Sales, in this first operation I worked at, was a really personal business; the same guys had been selling to the same buyers and accounts for 20 or 30 years. These guys and their customers went to each others' kids' First Communions (yeah, very Catholic), graduations and weddings and such.

A Christmas tradition was to send personalised Christmas cards back and forth, often a postcard with a family photo on the front.

One particular salesman on a particular year had his Christmas cards printed using a family photo taken in front of the Christmas tree, with their beloved German Shepherd seated amongst them. He sent out 150 or 200 of these to customers and prospects all over the Upper Midwest, having handwritten season's tidings on each one.

Normally the only response to such a gesture would would be a reciprocal card and perhaps an eventual thank-you phone call.

But for this particular salesman on this particular year, the response was much more immediate and enthusiastic. This was long before email or text messaging. Only a couple of days after dumping all the cards in the mail, he began getting deluged with dozens of voicemails like "Hey Tom, your dog's really got the holiday spirit - Merry Christmas!" or "Tom, I wish I was as excited about Christmas as your dog is!"

Upon a closer look at a copy of the card of which he'd sent out hundreds of copies, the German Shepherd had a shit-eating grin and a massive hard-on.

Season's Greetings, all. Give your critters lots of love.

And keep your Viagra out of reach until the Christmas card photos have been taken.
