The 235 & a Corvette, regardless if C6 or C7, are completely different cars. I plan to drive a C7 soon myself. I can tell you that the C6Z is like a pissed off silverback trying to kill you if you don't respect it. Orgasm every time to stab the go pedal. I'm modded (I would buy already modded if I were you) and 1st & 2nd gear are useless. 3rd too sometimes if the temp is cool enough & I'm only at 535 WHP. It's a huge blast to drive & I get looks & compliments everywhere I go. Big reason is the color of mine.

The only thing you will hate about the car is the garbage Bose stereo. You will want to upgrade that. I did. Infinity components in the doors, Arc amp behind the seat, Rockford sub in the hatch storage area & Pioneer touchscreen HU.

Don't listen to all the "The interior sucks" dopes. Is it a luxury car inside? Nope, but it ain't junk. Heated seats, dual zone climate control, power seat, tilt & power telescoping wheel, memory seats, etc. Buy at least 2LZ option package if you go C6Z & at least 2LT if you go C7 Z51). Easy to change out the console/dash bezel for one that meets your taste, plenty of vendors offer nice leather add ons (I have a bunch of stuff from Redlinegoods.com), etc.

Heads, cam, cai, intake, TB, exhaust & a tune puts you over 600 WHP w/the right combo. I have cam, cai, exhaust & tune. Just leave the stock bi-mode axle-back. Close the valves & you're in stealth mode & can enjoy a quiet ride & talk to your passengers LOL.

If you want to know anything or see pics of anything, let me know.

I'd AT LEAST drive all the cars, minus the Camaro maybe b/c I don't think you'll want it, on your short list above before modding the 235 anymore. I would add a used Audi S6 & 2010+ CTS-V to that list & maybe an F10 M5.

I'll just leave these vids of my Z06 here.

Jesus, your ride is evil. WTF did you drive before this beast?

Have you driven both the 5th and 6th gen Camaros? Interested to hear a comparison.

There's another dude here who totally loved it, but not sure if he drove it yet.
No, I never drove either 5th or 6th gen. I'm not trading my M235i, but I do need to drive a 6th gen 2SS. 455 lb/ft of torque and 6-speed manual - how can you go wrong?

I did drive the new S550 Mustang - not the GT350, but the regular 5.0 GT. I can guarantee you that even the non-GT350 it's not just a muscle car anymore. These cars handle and stop with the best of 'em, especially at the $40K price point.

As far as the GT350, Randy P puts it through its paces in Ignition Ep. 142 at Chuckwalla Raceway. He has nothing but praise for the car, saying he loves the brakes, steering feel, and the way it puts power down coming out of turns. His exact quote was "I don't think anybody who buys a Shelby GT350 will be disappointed. It delivers." But then he looks into the camera and adds, "The only thing that I recommend that you buyers out there in the world not do, is don't drive the 'R' first... on track anyway."

LOL thanks. I sold my previous C6 in 2013 & was Vetteless till I bought this beast last year. In that time I was driving my Miata & Speed6 (Speed6 is modded too). I've had a lot of cars, though. This Z06 is by far my favorite toy so far.

I've had a lot of cars too...and like you, couldn't leave any of them alone!

Your Miata is an LS powered Miata isn't it?

That's funny, regarding Randy Probst. He also said the M235i was the best BMW he had driven in years...then gave that honor to the M2. :-)

Yeah, I hope they keep making the GT350 so I can at least test drive it. Most dealers are keeping them hermetically sealed I bet.

I wish it had a V8. Eventually I would like to own a V8 swapped Miata. I'm in the market for another Miata right now, but a stocker. I miss putting the top down.

So yeah, it would out-handle your Trailblazer. And new, it comes in at more than $10K under your budget. Use that $10K for a blower if 455/455 hp/torque isn't enough...
The Camaro kicks ass, but beware:

Aside from looks, Cammisa tabulated a litany of things we don’t like about the SS: “The back seat is a cruel joke. The HVAC vents love to freeze and/or slow-cook your right hand, and their cleverly integrated temperature knobs feel cheap. When it’s hot under the hood, the starter can barely crank the V-8 over quickly enough to start it. Steering weight can’t be selected individually from the drive modes—and it’s artificially heavy in both Sport and Track modes. The powertrain suffers from some big NVH issues.”

They go on to say the M4 feels like a luxury car. That is what the extra $30k is for.

If you wait long enough, there will be new cars to keep this discussion going forever...

I know.... But I don't think it's going to be too much different.

Maybe the current gen 911 S will be in that range in 2 years? 0-60 in 3.0s, 1/4 in 11s...

I've been struggling with a similar situation myself, having driven BMW since 2008 originally with my 335i, now with my 435i. Thankfully, I am in a financial position to purchase something very nice once my 435 comes off lease. I always have the tease of the m4.. but really looking at something alittle crazier but a couple of years old. 2014 m6, audi rs7 etc. I've never been able to recapture the feeling my 2006 evo mr gave me (crazy right?) and feel like I really need to step in something on the edge to give me that passion back.

Then you have the Macan S, Gt350, c7 z06 - my mind goes in every direction.

Then the sensible side that says buy a civic and call it a day. The world may never know.

Step away from the luxury brand performance cars & you'll find vehicles more connected to the road & fun to drive. My Z06 wants to kill me every time I mash the go pedal. That's driving!

Sounds like the C6 Z06 should come with a pair of rubber underwear!

The speed and acceleration of the C6 Z06 is amazing and addicting once you can get traction, before that's it's frustrating.

IMO, the C5 Z06 strikes that perfect balance.

Enough power and instantaneous throttle response to feel very fast, yet not too much that 1st and 2nd gear is unusable.

I would love a C5 Z06 with a modern interior and technology.

I debate at times selling my c6 Z06 but every time I row threw the gears it puts a smile on my face that I haven't gotten anywhere else!

Somehow the votes are still coming in and the 911 Turbo (997) is still top dog, followed by GTR and C7 Z51.

Interesting!

I'd get a c6 z06 and add a few simple bolt on with a tune. Some wide sticky tires should help Amy traction issues.

You're not the only one in this camp. So far haven't found one that's modded for TD. But it's on my list for sure!

Are you looking on the Z06 for sale facebook group & corvetteforum.com? If not, get on the ball! Maybe just buy mine.
I've got some Weld RT-S wheels on order for it & my R888 tires for the rear are waiting to be mounted to them so I have SOME traction. No DRs for me as I like to turn.

What does TD stand for?

You will get bored with the GT-R. It's like driving a computer IMO. I just drove one again about a week ago. I THOUGHT I would like them more now, but nope! Still only fun when you are WOT. Still loud annoying clunky trans & still LOL interior for what they go for. I got back in my Z06 and proceeded to enjoy driving again lol
