I would love a deep green similar to BRG. I personally am not a fan of IOMG as I find it to be a little bit too bright and jewel-like.

I think Verde Ermes ~ P7T (metallic) with Tartufo would look great! Verde is not to dark nor to light like IOMG.

I really do not want one of the standard colors, but I also do not want to give up my spot in order to acquire individual paint.
Are you sure that individual paint won’t be available by the time the G87 is released? They just started doing the semi individual colors Dravit Grey Metallic and Tanzanite Blue Metallic for the 3 series at the Mexican plant for MY23.So maybe the full individual program will start up at the Mexican plant this year.

From what I am hearing and I believe Game has as well, is that individual paint will not be available at SOP. FYI, while the two aforementioned colors you mentioned are considered individual colors in reality they really are not. Think Individual Lite. Those very colors are also offered on X models built at Plant Spartanburg. My demo is in Tanzanite, a $1500-$1950 add depending on the model. Real individual paint is significantly more.

Yeah I personally wouldn’t give that spot up for individual paint. Have you considered wrapping the car?

No, not my thing.

I also might sell the car 2-4 months later. Undecided.

I am glad you mentioned wrap. Does it offer similar protections as PPF? If not, can you wrap a car and then put PPF on top of the wrap? I like that wrapping allows for a whole wide range of color options which is nice, but then are are some things that would get my OCD going crazy...like door jams. Would those not be wrapped? I guess that is a minor item.

Vinyl wraps will offer some protection but not as much as ppf. 3-4 mil thick vs 8 mil.

Wraps also have shorter life, maybe 2-4 years depending on climate. Ppf life expectancy is 10 years.

Wrapping a car is much less expensive than a full car ppf. IMO ppf over vinyl is a waste of money. You could potentially have the car re-wrapped in 2-3 years for less than ppf.

Door jams and such can be covered but that will cost more, so if wrapping is your thing you usually want a paint color that's somewhat neutral and wont give you undesirable contrast colors if you don't cover every literally painted area (ie alpine white or bsm).

I'm a big fan of PPF. The front end of my daily that's 4yrs old has had PPF since day 1 and still looks brand new.

No wrap. The new, better, more protective option is autoflex. Sprays on, looks just like paint, peels off if you want to change it.

Not sure why anyone is still doing wraps, to be honest.

I was watching Schmee's video and there's a point where he opens the door and you can see the inner door jam, which is PROBABLY not camouflaged… and you can clearly see that it's red.

So I think it's safe to say we'll have, at the very least, the standard Alpine White, a shade of black, Zandvoort Blue, and perhaps Toronto Red.

This is from the BMWBlog video showing the interior of the white camo car, with the door jams also in red. Shmee was showing the interior of the multi colored one.

So both test cars were red!

I was intrigued by Autoflex and other high end liquid wraps, but came across several that didn't look great. If you live by an expert installer with a nice resume, it's definitely worth considering.

Vinyl wrap still has its place though. If you need text, logos, images, etc - and from what ive seen matte wraps in vinyl look more factory than liquid.

That being said, the finished that can be done in liquid like autoflex are amazing - but to do them requires multiple layers and will be much more costly.

Last note- I like knowing a panel can be redone if needed without having to take my car back into the spray booth.

I'm not fully sold on the car from an exterior design standpoint (at least based on what it will PROBABLY look like) but having a wider range of color options and being able to do individual colors is extremely promising. That plus the the availability of CF buckets and roof might just do it for me.

Chalk would be amazing! Not a fan of how blue and cold Brooklyn gray is. I prefer a warmer tone if I'm going to go for one of these trendy flat colors

Not 100% true as Glasurit is the paint manufacture for the BMW Group, VW Group (includes Porsche) and Mercedes-Benz.

Agreed. BG is a fairly awful attempt at whatever they were aiming for. It is extremely bland with very little “pop” in it given that it is a metallic. Chalk is a nice color, especially for a flat.

Added a screenshot of Chalk on a G80.
