I've only ever seen VINs required to confirm that it's compatible with your car. Sellers way of limiting liability of getting you the wrong part. You can waive it and accept the part but won't be able to return it.

This is ridiculous. Is this just charging whatever people will pay?

Damn, I’m torn between waiting to see if I can get a cs allocation or if I should just put in my 2025 order. Realistically how hard is it to get a CS slot? Do you normally need to have purchased a few vehicles prior?

If you have to ask, it’s probably too late.

There’s 2 in line at my dealer.

I would have been #1.
There are 5 in line at my dealer.

I don't want an automatic, so I don't care.
I'm #2 for MY25. But I lcould have had the 1st allocation had I been a jerk. I could have bumped the #1 guy because he's indecisive.

There is no shortage of that type HP now at all. Im not sure why this will be 'so special' at all. The literal marginal increase in performance wont make a large difference over the expected price vs a normal M2. Its an auto so the manual 'specialness' wont be around to tempt many folks. Again high horsepower cars are not in a short supply at all. There are plenty of CS/L M3's and 4s for sale. They are not rare and are not holding value at all. Sorry..........its meh already lol. Wow. 500hp and a few kg's less in weight for what? In a marginal sense........zero overall. There are better more interesting options when you start tossing money around.

M4 CSL's are sitting and prices are discounted just looking at the US market lol. 10k below book on some listing. A few new still sitting. Dont believe the hype at all. Need one? Get it used lol. Fly here to Germany, rent at the Ring etc and live your dream. Let some other fool take the depreciation.

M3 CS price drop example lol -

Vehicle Pricing History 2024 used/ 11k miles on the machine.

06.11.2024$138,483
06.20.2024$130,098
07.09.2024$125,520

Nope - every M2CS will sell out in very short order.

Lot of auto buyers anyway. Could’ve had first spot back when I was waffling between MT and Auto. Chose auto and now there’s 2 in line, lol.

If I wanted other cars I’d be buying those. The other cars I want are double the price of the M2.

M2CS G87 will be special for sure.

It won't be just an engine tune. CS models get more bracing, and the entire drivetrain gets recalibrated.

The shift knob was from the M4 3.0 CSL and is $3600 if you can get approval from BMW (which only one of us somehow got, a bunch of us tried). Needless to say, I'm sticking with the stock one.

The 3.0 was a super limited production car with only 50 of them being made. I can see them limiting one off parts for a car like that. They don't however limit any part for a CS or CSL.

I thought the CSL was limited to 1001 Units for the M4?

There was also a super limited edition 3.0 CSL (not to be confused with the M4 CSL) that they made only 50 of to celebrate the 50yr anniversary of M.

Yeah I know about that one but you mentioned the CSL wasn't limited but I thought it was? I couldn't order one because I was told all allocations were taken. (more than one dealer)

I said the 3.0 and we're talking about parts, not car allocations.

Because the car is so limited and expensive, BMW wont sell you parts unless they verify you actually have the car. A lot of us wanted the shift knob that comes on the car and tried to order it from the parts counter at dealerships. All of us were turned away after like months of waiting, even with VINs in hand (don't ask). However one guy ended up getting the 'okay' from corporate but it was prohibitively expensive.
