The above is good advice, build your credit.. owning this car and paying it off promptly will definitely help. Being young and having some money to play with is a great thing. You can justify purchases that you wouldn't otherwise with the multitudes of additional responsibilities that come with age. Just one question.. aren't you about to go to college? If so, where do you plan on parking that bad boy? I used to have to park my car way...WAY out in the PL to keep idiots from messing with it or dinging my doors. Running through the rain sucked too!

I am a registered nurse. I have been working in Oncology now for two and a half years. Cancer sucks. Life is too short. Enjoy it. You just never know. My first car when I was 19 was a honda civic 1992 so props to you OP. I went from stocking hospital suppiles, to an RN, and now about to be an NP. Just make sure you get a good education. I am 26 BTW.

Cool man. Hope you enjoy the car, don't wrap it around a tree, and also don't regret it later. Normally I'd be with the older and grouchier crowd saying what an idiot you are for blowing this much money on a car at such a young age when you're still living at home and not even really making that much money, but I'm torn on things like this now for reasons I won't say. Yes, life can be very short. I do think you're going completely overboard though. I don't think anybody is really "hating" either. It's seriously dumb what you're doing, compared to what you could be doing with that money and how much better off you'd be even in the short term, but whatever. The older/grouchier people are giving you very sound advice, and the silly image you put up just goes to show that you lack the maturity to handle it. Enjoy for now and don't wreck it.

congrats on the purchase. the grown man in me hates but the young kid give the thumbs up.
i hope the console hustle stays consistent until you can pay off that car. thats a lot of repairs and we all know nothing lasts forever. i also hope you are not exclusively using paypal because after making XX,XXX you have to report your earnings during tax time. insurance for me for that car at 19 would have been almost as much as the car payment. |

For new vehicles, CA only requires a temporary registration paper tag taped to the windshield. Depending on the turn-around at the dealer & DMV, and like TX, new plates show up in 3-6 weeks.

OP, what is your plan for acquiring currency after illegally modifying gaming consoles? That cash cow won't last forever, and neither will living at home bill-free. Did I read you didn't finish High School? What type of job do you expect to get with no resume? Or do you really think you're some type of electrical engineer because you can modify a gaming console (which isn't all that hard, just risky) who will make it on his own? Is your business registered with the Secretary of State or is it a sole proprietorship? Have you been paying proper taxes? What if the IRS comes wanting a cut of your illegal activities?
There are a lot of things it is apparent you haven't considered, and that is why a large portion of the respondents in this thread are cautioning you against your decision making. It isn't to be a "hater", but to maybe help guide a misguided teenager from making a thoughtless decision based on his desire to be "cool" and prove to some girls he isn't just a xbox nerd. Guess what - girls are much more impressed by having your own place than a car. And if you need a car to get girls you have far worse problems and they probably aren't the friends/girls you want anyway. ps - 1000th post |

he never solicited this life advice on future income, getting girls or what not. this thread is about his car. and if you want to go down that route, i'm pretty sure 19 year olds don't care about a BCG analysis so they could care less about their competitive environment they function within. if sh*t hits the fan, they sell the car - it's secured financing. he probably has learned more about life through his "business" than i did attending a top tier b-school. he'll be fine. |

But it isn't that complicated either if you are living cheap, or rent free. Between the age of 19 - 21 while I was in school (commuter school, usually set my schedule up for 2 days a week if I could, 3 days a week worst case). I worked when I wasn't in school, and I bought 2 boats (50/50 with my brother) and Ducati 996. That being said, I do occasionally regret not having the ‘college experience’ but it allowed me to do other things, including buying a house long before most of my friends who had student loans etc. |
