what do you mean by making senses
this is stupid
10 times
out of 82 games
give me a break
I believe it should be each team play once home and away
that gives us 30 games, or even play each other once a year is way better
and I don;t want to see 10 eastern game in like short period of time

While I never read this from the NHL, I would assume the purpose of playing more games against conference teams would be to build stronger rivalries. In turn, it would generate more interest among the fan base & make TV ratings & attendance figures higher.

As always, it has to do with the almighty dollar.

Let's just hope that the major networks don't decide that the shootout is so entertaining that it should be implemented in the playoffs. For me, there's nothing better than watching a playoff game that is heading into OT #4. Actually, the one thing better would be if it were my team winning it in OT#4, and then me not having to go to work the next day!

Too bad Primeau's career may be over - he certainly showed a lot last playoffs. But yeah, that goal was awesome. The only drawback was that I screamed when he scored at 3am. Woke my wife, and the baby. NOT good!

I'm a big fan of the Flames having had season tickets and seeing them on their Stanley Cup win in 1989. Flames have a great work ethic and it showed in the previous season. Hopefully they can turn things around as they haven't been winning in any in the last few.

Pens fan.

Well, I'm a Pens fan, but without Crosby, I'm not sure if I can say I'm a Hockey Fan based upon what is going on on the ice.

Pittsburghers will remember this one from the first time #66 hung up the skates. (to Don McLean's "American Pie")

Long, long time ago
I can still remember
For a dollar you could sit real high
I knew if we got our chance
We could make Lord Stanley dance
If maybe we could draft a big French guy
16 years we sat and shivered
One draft pick it was delivered
Good news on the doorstep, the Stanley Cup just one step
I can't remember if I cried when I read about the big French guy
Something touched me deep inside
The day Lemieux retired

{*CHORUS*}
Bye Bye French-Canadian guy
Drive your beamer to the Igloo past the parking lot guy
And vendor boys will sell you their I.C. Light
But this will be the day the Pens die
This will be the day the Pens die

Do you hate a scoreless tie?
And do you have faith in Stan and Guy when they're on the radio
And do you believe in the breakout pass
Do his hat tricks knock you on your ass
And can you teach me how to skate real fast
Well we know his back is pretty sore
And he's not a young guy anymore
When he kicks off the skates he leave us second rate
We were knockin on the basement floor
When we drafted him in '84
How in the world can we endure
The day Lemieux retired

{*CHORUS*}

Met Grant Fuhr of the St. Louis Blues
I asked him for some happy news
He said Mario has gone away
I know if I had my chance and I sounded like I came from France
Maybe they just might let me play
But coach saw me and he said: No, Never
My boss said: Your pay I'll sever
I sit and watch the playoffs
Knowing Flyers are all jag-offs
3 men I admire most:
Stan and Guy and Myron Cope
Skipped right by with my remote
The day Lemieuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuux retired

{*CHORUS*}

LETS get that slots license and build us a new igloo!

I feel bad for the Flyers....decimated by injuries....I'm in the middle of the Habs-Flyers game right now.....2-0 Montreal....hey, if Montreal can lead 2-0, the Flyers must be tired and beat up.

Amen. Decimated by injuries is an understatement! For tonight's game there will be (If I remember correctly) 9 minor league players in the lineup.

Even our coach/manager Bob Gainey acknowledged after that game that it wasn't a fair fight.

Just went to the first hockey game in my life in Buffalo NY - Sabres against the Montreal Canadiens. Good game - Sabres got back after pulling out their goalie for a 6th man to score to tie the game with 27 seconds left. But the Canadiens won by scoring a goal 30 seconds into OT. What a lost hope.

Heheh, I am only in Buffalo for a temporary occasion to check out a PhD institution. They pay for my hotel, flight, and food. How could I not pass this up?

There were quite a few Canadians in the arena, I was surprised - nearly 1/3 the crowd were rooting for the Canadiens. There was almost a brawl outside between the Canadians and Americans after the game. Some drunk Canadian shouted "Gooo Salt Lake 2002!!" It was hilarious.

That is so pathetic. People consider the Sport/Life allegory to actually be important and meaningful. OMG.

Buffalo needs more fans but they have had a rough go in the last couple of years.

I guarantee I could convert ANYBODY to a hockey fan simply by taking them to a playoff game. If it goes into OT, even better.

While a sport like football is better on TV, there is no question that hockey is meant to be seen live.
