Not street racing but showing off for sure. I read somewhere there was burnt rubber and figure 8s down the street. Shame though.

fixed that for ya.
You guys seeing this garbage film before you could drive or before you were "into" cars are hilarious. He seemed like a cool dude and from what i've read, was a decent human being. Sad that he checked out so early in life. As for F&F..... outside of a very small entertainment value, they could only appeal to the unknowing masses of teenie-boppers. The best part of that movie, was when they pulled out that GTO. And they even managed to ruin that by making it do a 6' wheel stand on street pavement. Someone said that these movies made the car scene what it is today. There may be some truth in that statement. But what the car scene is today on local levels is a joke compared to what it used to be. When people my age were out at the "races" back in the day, $10s of $1000s of dollars were changing hands every week. And the only front wheel drive cars out there were the ones driven by the girl friends.

I read somewhere that they took the Carrera GT out for a spin to troubleshoot for something wrong because it was acting up. They took it out, drove down the road (presumably fast). The car suddenly lost steering because of a suspected power steering fluid leak. They crashed and the PS fluid basically started the fire.
What shame, he's too young to die. I've never met him but he seemed like a cool person too. |

What's to disbelieve? If a PS leak is suspected why would you test the car at its limits? On the street maybe yes, maybe no, if so then shame on them for putting us all at risk.

Apparently the cause of the crash was due to mechanical failure of the Porsche. The culprit was a steering fluid leak, so I guess the steering wheel locked up and they crashed. |

What do you want from a guy that was older than you are now when that movie came out? I guess my memory of that movie was better than it actually was, cause a GTO would have made it better.
