What I'm saying is we've had idiotic laws and policies that have been implemented with the failures being immediate and in everyone's faces. Yet nothing has been done to reverse course. And as I've said there's been a doubling down on these failed policies. I'm firmly convinced that the only way many of these policies will change is when everything around us degrades into total chaos. |

The goal is to limit people's movement. It's a win-win for the gubment - cars are too expensive so it pushes people to public transit. Or, cars are affordable and the only thing available (due to federal laws) is electric, subscription model cars. Or people just choose not to go anywhere at all (15 minute cities). All of these achieve the end goal.

Another thing to consider is taxes. The Feds and states have gotten used to the taxes applied per gallon of gasoline purchased. Don't think that these taxes are just going to just disappear. It's going to be applied somewhere and the most logical is going to be on electric consumption. With gas if things get expensive or times are tight, one could limit the amount of driving. Try that with electricity where it doesn't matter if you cut back on how much driving you do as your non EV consumption is still going to be taxed.

Yep EV will be the biggest joke on earth by then, all those spent batteries that can't be recycled will be stored in lead lined 'trumnas' somewhere where the sun don't shine.
Good riddance. |

And remember, this "public charging" is the solution for those that live in apartments or condos, or don't have adequate electrical service or parking access for charging at home. It's offered as an easy fix for those that can't afford the infrastructural changes needed to embrace an EV in their own home. "Don't worry, someone else will build that for you. Buy now and trust us".
It's going to get a lot worse very quickly when those people in non-ideal situations run out of options and have to use public charging. Right now public charging is mostly convenience thing and many EV owners never use them, or use once or twice a year. If %6 of new cars are EV now, and most are charged at home, what's it going to look like when 100% of new cars are EV, and only some can be charged at home? It's a non-linear equation. |
