I just don't get how the owner of this abomination can drive this car around and park it in public without feeling crazy embarrassed as well as a certain level of shame. This is way different than throwing an m-badge on a 328i. Nah, you are embarrasing yourself by falling right in this guy's trap. There are two types of people doing this fake badge thing. The first type is serious and a BMW fan and usually drives a regular series and is yearning for an M car. The second type is a bmw hater, and they do this as a mocking parody to unsuspecting BMW owners like you. They are shooting for the most stupid look with an M badge on it. car enthusiasts like us have a hard time discerning why someone would go to such extend to show hate for high end cars. The psychology of it goes sth like this : cars = appliances and everybody should be driving the same econo 150 mpg box mobile and those who don't are selfish bast., deserving contempt. Lack of self respect is prob a factor too, but mostly it's an attempt to destroy the status symbol they see in cars above their purchasing power.

Those people drive Priuses. I don't think that this is the motivation behind people who put M badges (or AMG badges) on non-Motorsport (or AMG) cars. In any event, if they gave any real thought to it they would put Dinan badges on.

I think it is mostly, younger uninformed guys who wish they could own an M, or whatever. They found a badge and thought "cool". A friend of my son's has a 318 with a "police interceptor" badge on the back.

Since the F8X has come out, people have been replicating the look of the CP cars by putting horrendous wheels and black badges on their cars. How the hell do you think BMW got the idea?

Fortunately for the owners, they got to drive their cars years earlier and didn't have to pay BMW to make their cars look like sh!t. They have the pride of doing it themselves!
