The Merc was planted, Hammy required significantly less steering movement to keep pace through the twisties. Car was dialed in.

Almost as if hammy took Bottas set up and detuned Bottas.

Max’s swap to a higher downforce wing due to DRS failure unbalanced the car. Amazing what he could get done with the setup on a new track.

Merc is always good sending out cars for qualifying, RBR tends to get themselves in traffic. Perez can’t figure out how not to get passed on his warm up lap.

Merc will be tough to beat, but it only takes one wide run in a low rake car over the curbs to change the outcome.

AT must make their front wings out of cardboard and packing tape, Gasly loses the front wing all too often.

Definitely excited for this track and race.

The start to the first corner is going to be critical for the top 5 for sure. Ham, Max, and BOT on mediums and Gasly and ALO on softs.

+1

I still don't think Alonso even on softs will be a threat to the top 3, because straight line speeds of the Honda and Merc pu will be quite high and likely the renault engine won't be able to keep up. Then in the corners with that much traffic and dirty air the following cars even with the soft tire likely won't be able to do much. In terms of Gasly the same applies except he might have more straight line speed.

Are you sure?
afaik Max still has to go to the stewards.
Allegedly double yellow was waved but nothing showed up on his onboard monitor nor on the central computer system (so his team could warn him for the double yellow).
Strange situation; if that's really the case something is very wrong with the FIA warning system.

If you want to think like them then it's one of the following:

1) Redbull and the FIA were in on it, the FIA told redbull not to have any indash warnings or radio warnings to max on yellow flags so he doesn't have to slow down. Then when they get caught the FIA will let him go and blame it on system issues. #MAXFIA.

2) Rebull were cheating by purposefully eliminating any warning systems on their cars or pitwall, this way they could potentially have another few tenths of full speed before max pyscially sees the waving flags. Then when caught they would make an excuse for the FIA's system being glitchy and say neither of their systems worked therefore it must be a mistake and hope for a warning because atleast max stopped at the second he saw the flags.

3) Insert any dumb excuse here.

No warning on dash then no pen,the drivers can't watch the side of the track 100% when on the all important final Q run.

I actually never posted about max and the investigation, the one time I did was literally a few posts up when someone else mentioned it and I commented on it in a joking manner.

However you guys literally stalk mercedes's every move and update, and actually post conspiratorial comments about them like your lives depended on it - literally as it happens. Like I said before projection. It helps to be self reflective.

Instead of looking to turn 1, looks like it's going to be about pit strategy. This is going to be fun to watch!

The stewards noted Red Bull’s mitigation of the penalty in “view of the lack of display of the yellow lights panels, no dash warning lights and no audio signal to the driver.”

Whilst sympathetic to that, “Article 27.1 of the Formula 1 Sporting Regulation states that the driver must drive the car alone and unaided.”

So a good lesson not to fully trust on the onboard monitor.

I wonder if there will be a tyre change for Max or BOT now that they're further down the grid; maybe start on softs?
To get that extra jump at the start.

Nope...."For drivers who qualify for the race in dry tires, they must start the race with the tires used in the second session of qualifying. This applies for the Top 10 drivers from the qualifying sessions. For drivers that qualify outside the Top 10, he can start the race on tires available to them – soft, medium or hard"

Well , yesterday I was reading that the stewards admitted they were wrong .

BUT !!! The latest (just in)
I'm just reading that MAX got a 5 P penalty . Too bad => https://nl.motorsport.com/f1/news/ma...qatar/6805480/
This means MAX is P 7 ...And he can lose the WDC by the whole situation ..

Yesterday the Merc preachers said : It's the MaxFIA ?!?!
It's such a BS as usual...

It's literally the first thing you learn… always keep an eye on the marshal stations. Sounds like all the driver (not just max) have gotten too comfortable relying on the tech in their cars.
