Audi Issue
I know this isn't an audi forum, but my problem is fairly basic I think.
2003 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T: >>Fuel pump was making loud whinning sounds >>Replaced fuel pump (145k, reasonable age for stock unit) >>New pump started whinning >>CEL came on >>Replaced fuel filter (fuel pump runs great now) >>CEL won't go off, scanner says Bank1 Lean where do I go from here? Injectors need replaced? I drove maybe 20 miles on light before parking (distance home) and did not drive until I changed the fuel filter out. Though CEL was from lean running due to fuel filter clog, but should be fixed now |

Where did you buy your "new" fuel pump from? Maybe it is bad?
VAG cars are notorious for eating fuel pumps at this age. Really from 90K onwards. They usually have two fuel pumps. But now a days they are two in one design. I would also replace the fuel pump relay and fuse. They are probably toast too. Smell them for a burnt smell. I bet there is also a small micro filter at the fuel rail. VAG likes to use these and it should be replaced at the first service... but they never get replaced. I would clear the code and see what happens. IF the code doesn't clear... try disconnecting the car battery for an hour. Then hook it back up and see what happens. good luck, Dackel
