My FedEx sucks rant

I live in an apartment building on the 4th floor and was suppose to get a package last week on the 6th of November. FedEx has their own key card to get into the apartment to leave packages in the "package/mail area". This certain package had no signature required and like every other package I get from UPS or FedEx they just leave them in the package/mail area and the residents can go down and get them.

Low and behold I get a "Delivered" notification, I go down and notice my package isn't there. I call FedEx and deal with all the hoop-la and they call me a few hours later telling me that the newbie driver delivered my package to the wrong apartment complex. Since there mistake I have not been able to get my package. Because that driver can't read apartment numbers they have placed more restrictions on that package then a cough syrup label. I cannot have it held at a local FedEx location, I cannot sign the door number slip to have it left, and someone has to physically sign for it all because of his mistake.

I call FedEx to tell them the situation. I'm in school I can't camp outside my lobby for the whole day waiting for him. I explain to them it's their fault and why do I have to take responsibility for it. My only options are

1. Drive 1.5 hours to the sorting facility to pick it up. And drive 1.5 hours back
2. "Sir you can wait for him between 1pm and 4pm".

Those are my only options which I think is stupid for their mistake. The package will definitely get shipped back to the company. I seriously hate FedEx. Rant over. Sorry guys for venting.

i think you only have those 2 options. fedex operates same in ny.
last year they left 4 new tires sitting on the porch visible to any1 driving by.
now i have most of my packages deliver at my job, business delivery are handle first then residential.

FedEx is fucking awful, I always have bad experiences with these people. One time I had their driver on camera throwing my god damn TV over my gate! This guy got out of the truck, and literally tossed my TV over the gate. Called FedEx to complain (tv wasnt broken or anything) and all they said well its not broken right so why are you calling?

Another time they delivered my package to the wrong address, could not find the package after, and I had to fight with these people to remedy the situation.

Good luck OP!

Have it delivered to a local FedEx Kinko's. They are as ubiquitous as McDonald's, it seems.

They won't deliver it there either, that is what OP said, and this exact same situation has happened to me.

I used to have issues with Fedex all the time cause my dog would be outside (Electric Fence). Theyd honk and drive off without giving anytime to get outside to get it. would have to either sit outside and wait for the redelivery or go to the fedex distribution center.

Now I usually have all my packages routed to a local fedex/kinkos.

OP, try setting up an online Fedex account and rerouting the package to a fedex/kinkos from there. They tend to help you out more if you have an account, and its free to setup.

I can, but i rather bust fedex chops for not delivering my package on time instead of getting upset with a friend. If i pay for next day or 2nd day I better get it. no excuses unless mother nature is the cause.

Yes, Fedex has lost it's edge for sure. We've had that happen on multiple occasions. We are sitting at home waiting for a package, no knock on the door, no ringing the doorbell and all of a sudden we get the email notice that delivery was attempted but no one was home! Very frustrating as clearly the driver is just calling it a day and claims delivery attempt to avoid actually delivering. Like the OP I complained while picking up my package at the distribution center but their only reply was "they are not supposed to do that"!

I didn't say held. That is a different thing than delivered. Not being a jerk. Good luck to both you and the OP.

It's not FedEx, it's the fact that people in Mass work for FedEx. Sorry for your luck. All my FedEx workers are awesome.

heaven forbid the other larger company with 3 letters loses something that you have insured, I've been told it will not be worth your while to try to get the $4k back from them. I tried once and gave up.

To their defense, in my career, I've shipped many things, of value, with no insurance, and nothing has ever gotten lost, just delayed. Well, last Nov., I guess temps used their 5 finger discount, and a $4k insured package was lost. Could not get the money back even though it was fully insured. You know why? Because it was shipped out of an office, and the driver who picked it up never signed the document.

Hahaha I wont argue with that. I've had bad experiences with them living in NYC as well but nothing compared to Mass that's for sure.

Obviously everybody has different experiences but this is mine. Can't wait for the Christmas rush but even in normal times, Fedex in my area uses a third party contractor for deliveries, The trucks have the big Fedex logo on the side but in smaller print by the driver's door is the language that this is a contractor hired by Fedex. They only seem to handle the non-priority stuff and these are the driver's we have problems with. When it is a priority/overnight delivery we get an actual Fedex employee and have no problems....

I stopped using UPS for this reason. I shipped a plastic car part to someone (like 30$ or something). It arrived broken in half. I contacted UPS and insisted they pay for the damage but basically, because I packaged it (well), they would not honor their $100 standard insurance. Luckily it was chump change and I refunded the buyer, but I have never used them since.

The thing that pisses me off is they delivered it to the wrong address and I can't redirect it, have it held, or sign a slip to have it delivered. 8 have to physically be there and sign. And I don't have 3 hours out of my day to wait.
