Great pictures!! Scotland has been on my list for a long time now, but haven't been yet. Might do it once the kids are off to college in a few years, and take the wife.

Stunning pictures! I've been itching to go to Scotland and Ireland but my wife put a hard stop on any vacations to locations colder than home.

Great photos and looks like an amazing trip!
What parts of the country did you visit, and what would you recommend as must see places?

Holy shiz guys, didn't expect to wake up and see so many comments, thanks for all the kind words!
Yes it is lol, but luckily it's not cold at all in the summer so it's quite comfortable with a rain jacket on. Nope not at all, just light processing in Lightroom (shot in RAW) We did! No sightings though, she must have been sleeping Thanks! Quote:
Thanks! Thank you Quote:

Thank you and it was amazing! We saw a ton of places but I'd say the must-see's are Isle of Skye (the whole thing, it's not that big), Edinburgh, the highlands/lochs and of course Loch Ness. We spent about a week there and it was perfect, but we travel fast-paced so it was a lot of moving around.

Thanks much Dack! Green and wet about sums it up
I REALLY want a 70-200 2.8, and a new "main" lens since my 18-105 is showing it's age. I've been eyeballing the Sigma 17-50 2.8 for a new all-rounder. Admittedly I'm also craving a superwide for some sweet landscape and long exposure night photography

That wide aperture telephoto glass is $$$ though, I've got a 70-200 4 and it's the perfect all around field lens, multi-layering of the lens structure even allows for some crispy low light shooting depending on ambient/subject lighting. I also appreciate the portability of it, since the 2.8 is MUCH heavier. But if I had the money when I was purchasing it, I would definitely have loved to purchase it. My main zoom is a 17-55 2.8, and it's probably one of the best lenses I've ever owned. It rarely leaves my camera, lol. 17mm is also pretty wide, you want wider than that?! Haha. |

As for the superwide I would love to be able to get some milkyway shots with one, and they're great for certain landscape situations. A superwide would have been a lot of fun in Pisa! Battistero II by Matt Steele, on Flickr

Beautiful! And I actually have the Canon L Series telephoto, with the ultrasonic motor and image stabilization, which has made all of the difference in low light. I have to attribute it to glass quality because on paper, those figures are a recipe for ISO disaster, under any other circumstance.
