On other forum and on YouTube you should see the kind of hate associated with the type r: Rice mobile, crappy Honda, lawnmower with a wing etc. etc.

Sure, that's no secret. Certainly anyone who pays attention to the enthusiast community understands that dynamic.

I just didn't understand why you in particular thought that "everybody should hate" this car?

Likely a bunch of 15 yr olds as well as the Subaru/VW Monster energy drinking, fast food eating, vaping, poor hygiene crowd.

It was a "joke" considering what I read about it. Personally I highly respect this car, I don't like the look of it but the final result is there. In Canada it's going to cost about the same as a golf r, but it will offer you a faster and much more track focused car. I think that for the money you can't find any other equivalent blend of performance/usability in the car industry.

Roll cage and non standard tires with the rear seats and stereo removed to "offset" the weight of the roll cage. Silly.

Bet those front tires are cooked after one lap. So much understeer.

What is with the choppy steering input on corner in? A FWD thing? Or bumpsteer?

I see. As you mention, with all the negativity toward Honda and FWD hot hatches, it wasn't clear to me that you were trying to be sarcastic. I thought maybe you were just trying to rile people up and start a big "dump on the new Civic Type R" hate thread.

Not sure I'd agree with the last statement, however, I agree this is an attractive offering.

The performance of this car isn't the problem at all. That is one hell of a fast lap, beating the GTI Clubsport S by 4 seconds. I'm sure it is a stellar driving experience.

The problem is the looks. I couldn't imagine driving a car that looks like that every day. I'm 47 years old and would be a bit embarrassed getting out of it at a client. The size of the rear wing is stupid and the tacky body, while I'm sure is functional, is not pleasing to the eye at all.

It's just a matter of taste. The people this car appeals to the most, can't afford it or can't even drive.

Reminds me of the guy on Better Call Saul who takes care of Jimmy's brother and drives an Evo with the big wing and rear wiper. So hard to take people in a suit driving an Evo, STi or similar seriously.

It's always been an impressive car.

You need to think of the Type R as a different car.

The evolution lancer vs the regular lancer.

I'm pretty sure it will cost the same as a Golf R or Focus RS when it arrives in the USA. I know it's AWD vs FWD so it's not a direct competitor in driving experience but price wise they are competitors.

If it were $30k, I can see this being a great offering. At $40k, it's a hard sell.
