Any suggestions for a fun 4-door midsize sport sedan under $50k (new or used)? The only catch is that it HAS to have a spare tire as I'm planning on taking it out to lots of road trips

If you are buying new and like audi, take a look at the s3.

Get a used 2011 E90 M3 w/ a manual trans and throw a spare in the rear lol; problem solved.

Does the S3 have a spare tire? I almost wanted to splurge on the RS3 and went beyond my $50k limit , but that didn't come with a spare

Not that I haven't thought about throwing a spare in the rear, but that takes up a lot of trunk space, which is when I needed most on a road trip - would like to avoid this if possible. Plus the fact that I have to jury-rig up something to strap it down. BUT...Doing this will open up lots of options. However, at the moment, I would preferred to have the spare strapped in its well, where it's supposed to be.

I know - that was on the top of my list. Unfortunately no spare on the RS3 - just found that out visiting an Audi dealer

Do any cars (smaller than a Continental) have a full size spare? Donuts are just as worthless as run flats in my book, both ideally require a tow to a tire shop.

Actually, I don't mind a donut. I just need something to get me to a tire shop to get it repaired or replaced without having lost half a day sitting on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck. I've seen my share of tire failures, where that can of glue that most manufacturers provide are worthless. I don't like the ride and feel of run flats either and in some situations, that run flat is worthless as well.

I hate the fact that car manufacturers are removing that donut, and don't even have an option for one

All good points. I had an M Coupe for a dozen years, no RFTs and no spare. Only had to wait for Roadside once, but it was a Sunday, two hours from home.

Thanks for the suggestion. I wouldn't call a Mazda 3 a "Sport" sedan by any stretch of the imagination, even a speed3 is stretching it.

While I do like the idea of spending the savings on doing fun trips, it wouldn't be worth doing so in a not so fun car. Road trips to me is foremost, the fun driving experience - that part comes first. Let's just say I enjoy the journey more than the destination As such, most of the roads involved are off the beaten path on back roads and thus the requirement for having a spare tire as some of these places won't even have radio signals for me to even call a tow truck.

Ideally, my Z4M coupe is the ultimate road trip car if only I can fit a spare tire and luggage in it - at the same time

I don't have any pictures. About a month ago I was selected by a company to test two cars. They wouldn't tell me two cars.. once I arrived there were two cars fully wrapped in Camo. One was a Kia and one was a bmw (340i). I could tell by the brakes and lights etc. After driving both back to back bmw was clearly the winner from steering feel, power, power delivery etc. if I had never driven a BMW or any kind of "performance" sedan the Kia wouldn't be bad... after the drive I needed to answer basic questions.... they told me it was the new Kia stinger. OP, do you get that many flats that a spare tire is that important that you would base buying a car off of it?

I am almost 37 and travel a decent amount. Have never had a flat tire. and if it happens, BMW will send someone out. If that fails, my car insurance will send someone out.

I just couldnt imagine deciding on what car I am biying over such a trivial thing.
